Thursday Journal with Neet

The second Christmas post with the words "I'm trying to get into the Christmas spirit, but I can't get the flaming top off the bottle"
I have used the opposite inked side from last weeks and have used loads of numbers instead of stars. She might see stars, once she can get the top off at least one of the bottles. I must say she does look a bit cheesed off.
I am also entering this for Yvonne's theme on Art Journal Journey where the theme is words and numbers.

Thursday Journal with Neet

The words this week as we are fast approaching Christmas are "I'm the reason Santa has a naughty list" which I have altered to we're, because I couldn't resist putting these two little fellows on. The page is sprayed with Dylusion inks, with some stars in metallic silver. The figures are coloured with watercolour pens.
I am also linking this to Yvonne's theme on Art Journal Journey which is words and numbers

To everyone who sees this have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year

Another piece for the Textile course

This piece is for the silhouette lesson and one I really enjoyed doing.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words certainly had me stumped, they are ' You made no dramatic gestures. Gave no solemn lectures. You simply made the tea. And fetched the biscuit tin'
Not the easiest one to portray, but I thought the two figures said it all. The boss having a relaxing time on the carpet and her friend doing the errands and not happy about it either. In fact she's leaving.
Did this in a bit of a hurry as I am having trouble with my ability to get these large ones on here as my airdrop doesn't work on my photo program.

I am also entering this on Yvonnes theme on Art Journal Journey where the theme is numbers/words

Tag Tuesday - White Christmas.

Joan's theme on Tag Tuesday is White Christmas which gives us a lot of scope. This is a tag in Tim Holtz style, using various bits kicking around in my Christmas box. I really must sort it out and give all the bits I'll never use to my very arty granddaughter age 6. I used several Tim Holtz dies for this one.

Thursday Journal page with Neet

'I do not have ducks, or a row. I have squirrels, and they are at a rave' Not an easy one to do, in the end I went for the two figures.  The one on the left has the squirrels and her friend looks somewhat bemused by her. She probably has three ceramic ducks on the wall at home.
Gosh, one of my friends parents when I was young had some, I remember them well.
On Sunday I finished making 52 Christmas cards, so on Monday we went to Worcester to buy 30 Charity cards, as I couldn't face making any more. We also had a very large unicorn balloon blown up with helium for my granddaughter who was 6 yesterday.
I then suffered four excited girls and three slightly quieter boys for three hours. I slept really well last night for a change.

Thursday 28 November 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

'In my experience, I am right' are the words this week and I have chosen these figures as I thought the one on the left would have said the words and the one of the right looks decidedly bored with her.
It's still raining here and I dare not walk on the lawn, as it just brings up all the earth.
This does mean that I spend a bit more time in my studio, getting some pieces ready to sew and put on canvas. As we are not having any workshops at the moment I need to keep going and not loose my mojo.

Tag Tuesday - cats

Another tag for my theme on cats on Tag Tuesday I used Dylusion products again with a sprayed background.

Mixed media course piece

I am having a break from trees and have done another sea one. This time in mixed media. I started off with a linen type fabric and added strips on paper, fabric, melted baby wipes (blue bits) I then added shells, driftwood, seagull feathers, and some homemade seaweed and nets from scrim. I did some French knots and beads and added a thermofax screened fish and ammonites.
It measures 12" x 24"

Thursday 21 November 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

The words this week are 'Every now and then, life needs to be turned upside down to get it back the right way up'
Not an easy one to portray in pictures, and this was the only way I could think of. The background is sprayed with Dylusion inks and stencils used on top. I didn't think it needs any additional stamping. I will be interested to see how Neet interpreted this one. We do sometimes come up with the same idea, maybe this time !
I am still very busy with my course work and no sooner do I finish one I want to make another one. I will put one on, on Friday, a mixed media one on fabric.
The weather has turned very cold and I have only managed half a day in the wet soggy garden.  My back and left hip are also bothering me with this damp weather ( I'm blaming that anyway)

Tag Tuesday - Cats

It's my turn to host Tag Tuesday for the next fortnight and I have chosen cats as the theme.
For the first one I used all Dylusion products with a sprayed ink background. The second one is on a sprayed ink background and with one of my favourite cats stamps. I just love the expression on their faces.

These are the two ginger and white ones, having had an exhausting day doing nothing. They are brother and sister and started life as feral kittens from where we lived in Wales.

Thursday 14 November 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

For the words this week which are 'How about never, is never good for you' I used two of Dylusions stencil/masks. I rarely use them and this one gave me the opportunity.
The female figure with that stance looks like she would say those words, and he's looking somewhat bored and looks like he might be thinking of saying something.

Tuesday 12 November 2019

Tag Tuesday - Seeds and plants

For this fortnight on Tag Tuesday Michele has chosen Seeds and plants which is perfect for this time of year. I have used a photograph of one of my apple trees where the apples have been really good this year. I cut the photo up and placed it on a sprayed background.

Thursday 7 November 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words are 'I hear you, I'm just not listening'. I have used one of my Dylusion sprayed pages with some stencil work on top. I also sprayed some gold shimmer ink on as well. The figures are Dylusions and painted with watercolour pens.
The figure on the right looks as if she is walking away and is definitely not listening.
I am getting really fed up with all this rain, I can't do the jobs in the garden and as my textile course has been cancelled for the time being, my enthusiasm has gone as well.
I'm going to give it a break for a while and try and get back to my two on-line art courses, which I have abandoned since April. I can't catch up now, but I can do a bit.

Monday 4 November 2019

Tag Tuesday - Anything goes

On Tag Tuesday the theme set by Valerie is Anything goes. This has given me the chance to use up some spare bits. I have boxes of things to use up and really must sort my studio out. Times change and I do more textiles than anything else now.
This is another of my deli paper backgrounds and this time I cut up added some extra pieces to the tag. I then added some more friendly plastic pieces. Just in time for this one.

Sunday 3 November 2019

Tag Tuesday - Anything goes

For Valeries theme on Tag Tuesday which is anything goes, I have used up some hoarded scraps. I started off by covering some card with coloured deli paper and making tags with them. I then added some glitter medium through a heart stencil and added some friendly plastic charms that I had made years ago. I really must use up more of these as it is no longer available and will get brittle.

Thursday 31 October 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

'I'm an acquired taste, if you don't like me, acquire some taste" I had a page already  for this  with a background of spayed Dylusion inks. I used a few stencils on top using Distress oxide inks. The figures both acquired new beds  and painted with watercolour pens.
My two youngest grandchildren came over on Tuesday and had a sleepover. By the time my son in law came over to fetch them at lunchtime on Wednesday, I could have curled up somewhere warm and fallen asleep.

Tuesday 29 October 2019

Another piece of course work.

I have just finished this piece for my textile course. It's my first attempt at a sea theme.
The large fish is a print taken from a rubber fish. The two striped fish were masks made out of wallpaper on a silk screen, and the pattern on them is the reverse side of the wallpaper, taking up the colour from the screen  The background is all made with Indian block prints and then over-dyed with Procion dye.

Sunday 27 October 2019

Tag Tuesday - Anything goes

Valerie is hosting this fortnight on Tag Tuesday and has chosen Anything goes. Lots of scope there, which usually leaves me without knowing where to start. As some pressed leaves fell out of my book that's wa=hat I went for. I used a mop up piece of paper stuck onto a tag, added the leaves, tiny acorns, a small pine cone, and a twig charm.

Thursday 24 October 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

At my age, one should ration one's excitement" are the words this week. I decided to go with pink this time as the lady looks like  she would have a pink rinse if she felt brave enough. The look on her face and her grey hair seem to suit the quote. Being a butterfly is about as much as she can cope with for excitement. Her dog isn't exactly full of energy and excitement either.
The page is distress inks with stencils and stamping on top, and done in a hurry again.

Thursday 17 October 2019

Thursday Journal with `Neet

This week the words are ' I'm not and early bird, or a night owl. I'm some form of permanently exhausted pigeon'
I used a background that was the right hand side of a previous double page I had made. It's Dylusion inks sprayed on and then the page pressed onto the opposite one.  I thought this figure had the right stance and look for the quote.
This is a scheduled post as I am in Telford with one of my daughters at the Aqua trade exhibition where you see and order all the new things for your marine and reptile shop.

Tuesday 15 October 2019

Tag Tuesday - Autumn

Joan is hosting Tag Tuesday for this fortnight with the theme of Autumn.
I have recycled some small tags with small pieces of scrap paper in Autumn colours, and added some stencil marks on the top. A word was added for each one. No stamping was used in this exercise.

Thursday 10 October 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words are 'If you figure me out, I want an explanation' The lady on the left certainly has some issues and does need an explanation. Why does she have wings and a bird on her head disguised as a hat and why does she have a strange friend. I really don't think the lady on the right has any idea. I don't either.
The background was a page that I used to clean my stencils with a baby wipe, I then inked over it with distress oxides and did a bit of stamping with the same colours.

Hopefully, as we are in Cornwall the weather will be better than it has been at home. If I have internet there I will update you on the state of play.

Thursday 3 October 2019

Tag Tuesday - Trees

Joan has chosen the theme of trees for this fortnight on Tag Tuesday.
My tag has a distress inked background with a script stamped on top. I added an open weave fabric at the bottom with some leaf charms, and some die cut leaves in Autumn colours.

Thursday Journal with Neet

If you require me, I'll be on my pedestal are the words this week  Not sure what I was going to do with this one and went with this figure sitting on her mushroom pedestal. She also looks as if she might say something like that as well. The background is Dylusion spray inks with stencils. The figure is Dylusions and painted with watercolour brushes.
We are in Cornwall next week so I must now go and do another page for Thursday.

Thursday 26 September 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words are " If it doesn't make you feel fabulous, don't do it, don't buy it, don't keep it"
A saying I should perhaps take notice of. My idea of throwing clothes away used to be ' if you don't want to answer the door wearing it, it's time it went in the bin or the charity shop'

The background is Distress oxide inks and then using the same colours through a stencil. I did a bit of stamping in blue. The figures and things she shouldn't have bought are all Dylusions. I don't like this figure much and it seemed a good chance to use it.

I am also entering this in Erika's theme of polka dots, stripes, plaids or patterns on Art Journal Journey

Thursday 19 September 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

'Please come again when you can't stay as long' are the words this week. The background was made using Dylusion spray inks one page and then closing the book, so it inked the opposite side. I then used various stencils to make the edges and patterns. The figures are a mix of stamps and coloured with watercolour pens.

I have been working on my retreat journal since I got home and other things in my studio have been neglected. I really must get back to my textile work and do some pieces from out last lesson, which was silhouettes. I have some ideas, I just need to get them down on paper to see if they will work.

I am also entering this in Art Journal Journey where Erika's great theme is polka dots, stripes or patterns

Monday 16 September 2019

Tag Tuesday -- Apples and pears

A quick tag for my theme on Tag Tuesday, this time with apples. The background is made with a mop up sheet and stamped with skeleton leaves and pear shapes. I then added two drawing of apples.
I added a childhood saying we used to hear from our mums.

Friday 13 September 2019

Final pieces for my textile course

This is another one of my final pieces for my textile course.  I took a photograph of some new heucheras and incorporated them in the back ground. I then machine stitched the top.

The second one is of some self seeded poppies in my garden

Thursday 12 September 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

Neet's choice this week with the words "Ugh, people"
I did a distress oxide ink background with various stencils and stamps and a Dylusion edge stencil on the base. The figures are from Dylusions mini people range and the creatures from Paperartsy.
I thought the tree dwellers definitely didn't like the look of the human people and the small figures were just the right size for the page. It's not often possible to use these smaller ones in the large journal, so it was nice to give them an airing.
I am also entering this in Art Journal Journey where Erika's theme is 'polka dots/stripes/plaids or patterns' All the girls have polka dots and two of the tree dwellers do as well, even the bottom border has them. That was a lucky choice of stamps, and not a conscience one.

Tuesday 10 September 2019

Tag Tuesday - Apple and pears

My choice of theme on Tag Tuesday for the next fortnight and I have chosen apples and pears. My samples  is of pears but I will do an apple one asap.
The backgrounds are distress inks  with some gold embossing powder on the top one.

Thursday 5 September 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

"Are you still talking" is Neet's choice this week and after inking the page with distress oxide inks I found two figures that I thought would fit the bill. The one on the left looks as if she is leaving in a bit of a huff, hence the words "Are you still talking" from the one on the left.
I am off on my textile course and this is a scheduled post. I have also discovered that I cannot comment from my iPad, so will have to wait until Friday.
I am also entering this in Erika's theme of polka dots/stripes/ plaids /patterns on Art Journal Journey

Some pictures of some new bits to my garden

Tuesday 3 September 2019

Tag Tuesday Purple

Michele has chosen purple as her theme on Tag Tuesday, and I am a bit late joining in. Visitors, garden, and textile work has left me with very little time. The cooking and washing etc in our house is done by various fairies according to my other half.

I have used lots of bits of fabrics with beads and sewing on top for this tag.

Saturday 31 August 2019

Homework for my Textile course.

The homework this time was to use photographs and build them into a collaged background. I have tried to make the edges of the photos merge with the rest of the canvas.

Thursday 29 August 2019

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words Neet has chosen are " I will never be a well behaved woman"  The background is distress inks with stencils used with the same colour inks, plus a purple. The figure is a mixture of  stamps from Dylusions. The pet pig is a Zinki one from Paperartsy.
I thought with her somewhat odd dress sense and her choice of companions, she didn't look as if she was well behaved. She's probably been on the funny mushrooms as well.
I must now do next weeks as I am on my textile course next week and we have Peter's brother and wife coming to stay for the rest of this week.
I also have one piece of homework to do before Wednesday as well. No chance of getting bored around here.

I an also entering this in Gill's theme of 'Anything with eyes' on Art Journal Journey

Monday 26 August 2019

Tag Tuesday Anything goes

Valerie has chosen Anything goes for the theme on Tag Tuesday, this is my third tag , and i have chosen birds again. Texture paste through a stencil for the background and a die cut for the large bird. The small bird is shrink plastic. I also added some feathers .

Friday 23 August 2019

Tag Tuesday Anything goes

Valerie is hosting this fortnight on Tag Tuesday with 'Anything goes'. I don't know about anyone else but when I am given the choice of doing anything, I don't know where to start.
This time I started off by using texture paste on my tag, painting it and adding a bird or two and some shells to add a bit more texture. I have spent four days at the seaside with my daughter and three beach mad grandchildren and had to have some seagulls on this one.

Wednesday 21 August 2019

Thursday Journal with next.

Neet's choice again with ' I ate healthily and exercised today...I had better frikken wake up skinny'
The background is distress oxides with stencils used on top. I added a small amount of stamping.
The figures are painted with watercolour pens.
I have just come back from my daughter's in Swindon and once again I have left this until Wednesday night. I really must get my time organised, too much to do and too little time.
We have visitors at the end of the month, and then I am away on two courses at the beginning of September.

I am also entering this on Art Journal Journey where Gill's theme is Anything with eyes
