Every Inchie Monday - Street sweeper

Not an easy one this week. The first one I drew the front end of a vehicle street sweeper ( badly), and as I didn't think much of that I printed off a clip art from the internet, and messed about with that. I thought it quite amusing with the sweeper having swept up a bloke, and put him he trash cart. The figures have been cut out and have foam underneath to make  more 3D

Turquoise tags

These tags have been kicking around on my desk for ages. They were for a swap where we each chose the colours we wanted, and all the others made you tags to go with your colour choice. Mine was turquoise and copper/bronze ( no surprise there) All the tags were the same size, so we could make them into a book. How to do this at the moment defeats me, as some of the embellishments on some of them, are too close to the edges. They are also double sided. Here are my own, that have taken me so long, no pressure, so I didn't do them. I used Distress inks, and Lynne Perrella stamps.
Below are the front and backs of the two tags. The colours are a lot brighter than they look.

Black and white Tags

These tags are for a swap, and I find it quite difficult to work with black and white. They had to be stamped so off I went on the bird theme as usual. Some of the images I embossed, and added ribbon, white roses and  brads to them.

Artful Times Challenge No 23 Colour technique

For this challenge I used the Stazon technique which was completely new to me. First of all you stamp the images with black Stazon , leave to dry, and then sponge on various colours of Stazon inks. When these are all dry you use a white jelly roll pen, ( I used a Signo, as I don't have a jelly roll one) to highlight different elements of the images. You do need to use a really fresh black ink pad, as the image does need to be very clear, to counteract being inked over by the other colours.

Every Inchie Monday - Broom

This week the subject is Broom, which can be interpreted in two ways,  a broom to sweep with, and the shrub broom, which grows wild around here. An inch doesn't give you a lot of room, so my first attempts went in the bin. I eventually managed to make a small broom out of the top of a cocktail stick, and some strange fibers I had. I think this type of broom is known as a besom. I cut up some magazine pictures of Autumn colours to represent leaves. Not very chuffed with this one.

Show us your Twinchies - Love is in the air

The subject this time is Love is in the air, and I've made this on Valentines day. I decided to make a tiny quilt instead of doing a card one. I painted calico with water colour paint, placed it on some wadding and sewed around the heart with free motion sewing. I then did a few hearts from the stitch selection on my machine. Just to give it a bit of bling, I added some red stickles on the heart.

Tim Holtz style tag for February

This is my take on Tim's February tag. I didn't have any of his stamps or bits so had to improvise. The tag was coloured with distress inks, and I coloured and tore a Queen of hearts embossed card in half, and placed that on the tag. The heart is shrink plastic. I stamped a heart from Paperartsy, and stuck a small playing card on it. I gave the heart some wings, and put the heart on a torn piece of embossed card. Stamped  the hand, and stuck a few letters on. I am quite pleased with the result.

Every Inchie Monday - Happiness

For this one I decided that happiness was being with my two grandsons, so I reduced a photo of them with me, and stuck it onto a water-coloured background.

Some more Oriental

As Artful Times set me off on the Oriental tack, I couldn't resist making a couple of tags. On the Geisha one, I embossed some cherry blossom, and then coloured the flowers with cosmic shimmer  acrylic drawing ink in pink. I added some Oriental paper at the bottom, and the image, then added some flowers to finish it off.
The other one I ripped up a page of an Oriental phrase book, stamped the image on top, and then added a coin and some small postcards that I had ages ago. I might try to make some more, and make a tag book with them.

Every Inchie Monday - Ruin

I have to admit to finding this one a bit difficult. Most of my attempts at drawing a ruin were not successful, so I resorted to the shrink plastic again. I used a Crafty Individuals stamp, and had to judge how much it would shrink as it was a long stamp. I water-coloured the background, and stuck the ruin on. It looks as if the whole thing will fall over any minute.
I have added one of the drawn ones, but my scanner is doing strange things to my work.

Artful Times Challenge No 22 Asian

This challenge is for an Asian theme. Oriental things were very popular a few years ago, so this has me back wanted to do more. I might even make something in fabric as well. These are altered CDs, that I have made into a book. I covered the CDs in Oriental paper and added various images and stamped onto some of them. A few I added flowers to, and stuck a silver fan on the front. The whole book is put together with book rings and a Chinese hanging charm.
