Mixed Media Monthly Challenge for January -- Time Flies: The Artistic Stamper & Anything but cute.

For this challenge on Mixed Media Monthly I have made another page for my steampunk & time jigsaw book.
I painted gesso onto the piece and added some of Tim's tissue paper which luckily had a time definition on. I used some texture paste through one of my time stencils. When this was dry I went over all of it with distress inks. I stamped some of Chocolate Baroque's steampunk stamps onto card and fussy cut them  I finished the piece off with cogs and some wooden letters.
I also made a large tag with some of my favourite Paper Artsy stamps.

I am also entering this in the Anything but cute challenge  which is Ring out the old bring in the new. I have used some steampunk stamps from Chocolate Baroque that I hadn't used before.

Also entered into the Artistic Stamper challenge -- Anything goes

Some more Dyan Reaveley style journal pages

Here are the next lot of journal pages.

This week we have to get a village on the inch, so, as we have been away I did two African villages. No way was I going to attempt churches and cottages on an inch.

Craft Barn challenge A-Z

On The Craft Barn challenge site, they are doing an A-Z theme. You have to stick to the same substrate eg tag, ATC, dictionary page, journal page, etc. I am going to do a tag book, as I have always wanted to make an alphabet one.
I have used one of Tim's crazy birds and placed it in a nest. The background is from an old book with distress inks on top.
I have just read through the instructions again, and when I get home I will put a B and the dictionary definition on the tag.

The last pages for my sea book

These are the last three pages for my fabric book of the sea. Just the cover to do now.

The background is made with felted silk tops. The fish and ammonites are made with 3D fabric medium through a thermafax screen onto lutradur and heated with a heat gun. The lutradur disintegrates with heat, leaving the fabric medium. I then sewed it down on the machine and added yarns and beads, and larger beads for bubbles

Fabric stamped with Indian wooden blocks, the embroidered on top. Yarns added for the seaweed, and beads for bubbles

This one is a small quilt with various different fabrics, silk, cotton, scrim, heated polyester, and yarn. Beads, peddle fabric and a seagull added at the end.

Tag Tuesday -- Vegetables

Not sure that I liked this theme. Not a lot you can do, and I see some of us have raided the seed catalogues. I did a collage and wrote 1 of your 5 a day. I hadn't left enough room for some of your 5 a day.

Every Inchie Monday -- Sofa

Gosh, this was a difficult one this week. How do you get a sofa on an inch. I drew the one on the stampbord and coloured it with distress markers. The sewn one is soft leather.

Tag Tuesday -- Ornate

I'm a tad late this week as I struggled a bit with this. Gave up on the card version and ended up doing a fabric Indian type tag. I used an image I had printed on fabric and some sari ribbon, plus some beads.

An Altered suitcase.

I have had this little suitcase ( 13" x 9" for years, so decided to get it done. I have altered it in the steampunk vintage style so it suits A Vintage journey -- A vintage travel and luggage, and SanDee &  amelie's steampunk challenge -- Anything goes & Rhedd's Creative Spirit - Anything goes
I covered the top and insides with papers from Tim Holtz destination paper stack and painted the sides and edges with Fresco paint and crackle glaze. I added some texture paste through Tim's splatter stencil. and some images from the papers. A few metal cogs and wooden clocks finished it off.

Every Inchie Monday -- Sun

Sun is the word for this week on Every Inchie Monday. Not as easy as it sounds and I had several attempts at drawing on the stampbord. I ended up with two sunsets, but I nearly ended up with Mr Sun smiley face.

Stamps and stencils -- Oh so blue

The challenge on Stamps and stencils is Oh so blue, so I have made my January art diary to fit the theme. I glued three of the pages together ( the pages are very thin) and painted them with gesso. I then used Dylusion paints for the background and used tree and leaf stencils with a white paint.

Try it on Tuesday -- Letters and numbers

For this challenge, on Try it on Tuesday,  I am using one of my Dyan Reavley type journal pages. I painted the page with yellows and oranges, didn't like it, so used a stencil and black paint and covered all but the two diamond shapes with black. I stamped a few lines in the diamonds and stamped images, and adhered them to the pages. I then drew in the white lines with Dyan's Journal block and wrote " Not everything is black and white. There are lots of shades of grey. Black and white looks great with one bright colour" I then stencilled in the numbers.

Tag Tuesday -- Science

For this tag I have used Tim's Chemist's stamps, on a background of Distress inks. The bottles at the bottom I stamped onto shrink plastic.

Every Inchie Monday 2016 -- Galaxy

This year Trillian has chosen all the words from The Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy. The first word is Galaxy. I drew the stampbord one with Distress markers and a white pen. The sewn one is on dark blue felt with some blue/silver yarn, beads and a few French knots. I will attempt to do the two each week, like I did last year.
