Paint Party Friday Week 9 Year 11

Two this week for Paint Party Friday. Two members of the thrush family, a fieldfare and a red wing. I'm not sure why my scanners puts those two yellow stripes down the sides, it only ever does it on these.  Have a good weekend everyone, it's raining in the UK so I have a very soggy garden, so studio here I come.

Thursday Journal with Neet

"Does running away from your problems count as exercise" These are the words for this week, and no they don't.  Celia seems to think she has lots of problems, like: what to wear to the local dance, what do do to the garden which is full of weeds, should she change her old car, what should she do about her mum who insists on phoning her every day, and what to do about the guy at work who insists she is his ideal partner, and she doesn't like him at all. She would just like to run away from it all, and asks her dog, Freddie "does running away from your problems count as exercise?" Why she thinks Freddie would know, is very odd. for a start he has his slippers on and doesn't ever do exercise. He likes himself the way he is, he can't understand what all the fuss is about, he doesn't have any problems. The only time he gets any exercise is when he chases next doors cat out of their garden. Not a problem.

I am entering this in Art Journal Journey where Elle's theme is language. I have put the way this can be interpreted below.

This month's theme of language, can be interpreted in many ways - your own language, language of flowers, language of love, words, books, communication, sign language, gestures, symbols, icons, or even your own "art" language meaning your own favourite things you like to use, colours, materials, things that you use when creating, that become your own unique signature style.

Tag Tuesday - Sports.

Sandie has chosen Sport for her theme on Tag Tuesday. I have absolutely nothing on this subject at all, no stamps, no pictures. I racked my brain and came up with sports day at my grandchildrens school. Because of Covid it didn't happen last hear, so this is from a few years ago. Harry is the one in second place and   was really chuffed he actually ended up with a little medal.

I used corrugated card for the base and rolled some acrylic paint on top. I then used some texture paste for some texture and some old book pages.

Paint Party Friday Week 8 Year 11

This week on Paint Party Friday I have painted a Great tit. One of the larger of the tit family, they are fairly common in the UK and we see them regularly on our bird feeders. They have the very distinctive black stripe down their breast which distinguishes them from the blue tit.

Thursday Journal with Neet

" I don't want to do things, things suck" are the words for this week and Doreen and her friend Nancy have been discussing what to do at the weekend. Doreen has suggested several nice pursuits to fill in the weekend, like going for a walk in the countryside, going to a stately home with a lovely garden, go to a show in the evening, or go out for a super meal. Nancy does not want to do anything, especially if it involves anything strenuous. She would be quite happy sitting and doing nothing. Doreen came out with a few more suggestions and all she got back from Nancy was "I don't want to do things, things suck"

I have adhered some of the Dylusion collage pieces to the background.                                                       The theme set by Elle (Empire of the cat) on Art Journal Journey is Language. Elle explains that it can be interpreted  with the language of flowers, colour, books, your own art, symbols etc as well as the language of words, gestures between humans.

Paint Party Friday Week 7 Year 11

For Paint Party Friday this week I have painted a Jay, belonging to the same family as the crow, raven, rook, magpie and jackdaw. The blue feathers are a wonderful colour, and when we lived in Wales these birds were quite common and I found a lot of the blue feathers.

Thursday Journal with Neet

The background is distress inks in two colours with squares and rectangles inked through stencils, they are my inspiration for the background to this weeks page. I am entering this in Art Journal Journey where Eileen who is unfortunately no longer with us had 'Inspired by' as her theme. This has kindly been taken over by Erika and Chris.

The words this week are: "One day you'll go far, and I hope you stay there" What on earth went on here to make Ursula say those words to Margaret. They had been friends for a long time, but had gradually grown apart. Ursula had a steady job as a secretary with a law firm and Margaret had spent most of her time since school in furthering her education. She had never even had a job. She had degrees in so many things that Ursula had lost count., and Margaret was constantly telling her all about them. Ursula had had enough and after a lecture from Margaret about what a boring person she was, just doing a secretarial job, Ursula lost it and said " One day day you'll go far, and I hope you stay there" After that Ursula walked away and hoped she had heard the last of it.

Art Journal Journey - Inspired by

On Art Journal Journey, 'Inspired by' was the them set by Eileen who unfortunately passed away last month. The theme was kept the same by Erika and Chris who took it over. This time inspired by circles again I have done another mandala. I find these very relaxing to sit and do when I don't feel up to doing anything else.  I use watercolours to colour them.

Tag Tuesday - Anything goes.

Anything goes is the theme set by Valerie on Tag Tuesday This time I have used some fabric cats on a distress inked background with some stamped paw prints.

2012 Abby just walked in one day, sat on my lap and watched tv with us.

2012  Brother and sister Leo and Haze used to be feral and just adopted us.                            The other two from the same litter were unfortunately killed on the road when we moved here.

Tag Tuesday - Anything goes

Valerie has chosen anything goes for her theme on Tag Tuesday. This always throws me into a 'Now what shall I do' mode which leaves my mind a complete blank. The first thing to do was to choose a colour I don't usually work with and a stamp I rarely use. So pink it is and a stampotique girl. I also include a quote and some flowers.

Paint Party Friday Week 6 Year 11

A Thrush and a Barn owl for http://paintpartyfriday.blogspot.com/ this week. The barn owl I did with my new set of pastel pencils which are so much nicer to use than the normal stick ones, not so messy. As the owl has a lot of white on it, I decided to do it on coloured pastel paper to help show up the white better.

Thursday Journal with Neet

'It's not me, it's you' are  the words this week, and I found it difficult to put figures and a story to this one.                The story is: The two ladies, Delia and Sheila have been to their school reunion and didn't enjoy the experience at all. Some of the others didn't even bother speaking to them, and those that did tended to ignore Sheila completely. Sheila of course was very upset about this and asked Delia was on earth was all that about. Sheila said : It's not me, it's you, I'm not the one with a fish on their head.    The other ladies must have thought that Sheila had gone a bit mad and didn't want to associate with her.                                                  That was my version of it, I've was out of ideas for this one.

I am entering this in Art Journal Journey where the theme 'Inspired by' was set by Eileen who sadly passed away last month. For this one I was inspired by circles and Dyan's figures.

Art Journal journey - Inspired by

Another mandala for Art Journal Journey where Eileen who sadly passed away last month had the theme Inspired by, which Erika and Chris are doing in her place. I am inspired by circles and they feature quite a lot in my various journals. I kept this one to just a few colours.

Paint Party Friday Week 5

A green woodpecker this week, one that we don't seem to get here, although my daughter who is not far away has them in her garden. These tend to be ground feeders, unlike the greater spotted and lesser  spotted one.

Thursday Journal with Neet,

Nothing makes me more productive than the last minute. these are the words for this week and I can home in on that one. How many times like now(Wednesday evening) do I come down to my studio to do my journal page, only a few hours before I need to put it on. Where does Monday and Tuesday go !!!

This time the twins Delia and Belinda have gone round to their friend who is organising a surprise party for their mother who has reached a significant birthday. the twins are not good at organising anything, so had to be nice to their friend Miranda and get her to organise it for them. They found to their horror that she hadn't even started on the arrangements. They knew she was fairly laid back, but this was ridiculous.

They stared to get annoyed with her and all she could say was " Nothing makes me more productive than the last minute" They just had to trust her and let her get on with it.

I and entering this on Art Journal Journey where Eileen's theme of ' Inspired by'  I am inspired by Dyan Reaveley with her quirky sense of humour and wonderful art materials. Neet and I use her stamps for our journals and the inks, paints and stencils for our backgrounds. The figures you can swap around and make different ones. I just wish she would do some male ones. I have been on a few of her workshops which regret fun.

I am trying to type this with one hand as I have a cat on my lap who keeps dragging my right hand down to stop me typing. I am not good at it at the best of times.

Tag Tuesday - Bees

This time a monochrome tag with bees on for my theme on Tag Tuesday. Distress inked background with stamped sunflowers. The lighter one is on foam pads to give the flower some depth.

Tag Tuesday _ Bees

My turn to host Tag Tuesday for the next two weeks. I have chosen bees as there are grave concerns about the future of these wonderful insects. Pesticides being one of the main problems. Both tags have backgrounds of distress ink. the first one I used a darker ink through a stencil. The larger bee is stamped on acetate. The second one has a separate piece of card that I put through an embossing folder. The bees were stated and glitter put on their wings. My brain is on holiday, I had completely forgotten to put this on my blog Duh !!

Paint Party Friday week 4

A Great tit for Paint Party Friday  this week. Late in putting it on, but have been distracted by the fact that my car is not well and needs a lot of money spending on it. Time for it to go I think.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This weeks words are 'Let me file that under no thanks'  Ellie has spent the whole day painting circles on her dining room wall to use up all the remnants of paint she had left over from all the other jobs. She wasn't sure if she liked it, but would live with it for a while and she could always paint over it.              Ellie had a shower and put clean clothes on ready to go out and treat herself to a Chinese take-away.     Her friend Helen arrived and asked her if she would like to go to the swimming pool with her. Ellie's answer to that was :do I look as if I want to go swimming after the day I've had" Helen went down on her knees and begged Ellie to go with her.  Let me file that under no thanks was Ellie's reply.

I am entering this in Art Journal Journey where the theme is Inspired by set by Eileen who sadly died last month. My inspiration for this page is circles. I use a lot of circles in my art journalling and textiles.

Paint Party Friday Week 3 Year 11

A long tailed tit for Paint Party Friday this week. I just love these small delicate birds. They usually fly around in a small flock and often visit our bird feeders.

Thursday Journal with Neet

Getting out of bed is almost always the wrong decision. These are the words this week and I know just how that feels, especially in the Winter.                                                                                                Pauline had been out with her friends for the evening, and as she didn't have to drive she had had too much to drink. She thinks it was just wine, but in the morning she wasn't so sure. She had heard that if you have another drink in the morning after your hangover isn't so bad, she's half way through and feels even worse. She thinks she looks and feels like the image in the mirror which is exactly like the little guy on the floor.

I am entering this in Art Journal Journey where the theme 'Inspired by' was chosen by Eileen.  For this one I was inspired by Eileen The Artful Crafter's blog who sadly died last month. Erika and Chris from admin have taken over and are keeping the same theme as a tribute to Eileen. I therefore added a glass of wine, just as Eileen was fond of doing with her posts for T day.

Tag Tuesday - Mostly Monochrome.

Michelle's theme on Tag Tuesday is 'Mostly Monochrome' and I have used my favourite colour - Turquoise. I used a Lynn Perrella stamp and added some flowers and tiny letter tags.

Paint Party Friday Week 2 Year 11

This time a gold finch for Paint Party Friday

A few flowers out in the garden.

They were quite nice grasses once.

Thursday Journal with Neet

I like long walks - away from people. these are the words for this week and  Amelia is explaining to her poodle Fee why she has just said those words to her. Amelia is not very popular amongst her contemporaries, she has airs and graces that tend to annoy the others. She doesn't have a better job or more money than them, but makes it sound as if she has. Some of her friends have normal dogs, many of them mongrels, but no not Amelia she has to have a spoilt poodle. So her main exercise takes the form of walks, long ones in the countryside away from people.                                                                                          Fee is not liking this at all. Not only is she clad in a ridiculous hat, coat and tail warmer, but has had to wear little wellington boots that match her outfit, which are very uncomfortable. To add insult to injury she is also in the same colours as Amelia.

On Art Journal Journey,  Sheila's theme is 'A single flower' which Amelia has just picked on her walk. Even that matches their outfits.

Paint Party Friday 10th year Anniversary.

It's the 10th Anniversary of Paint Party Friday this week.  This is my painting of Fat Ball, ( the name we have given him) a pheasant who rules the coming and goings in our garden. He had found the fat ball feeder on the bird table and helps himself on a daily basis. He also swears at any one who has the nerve to go in the garden. The cats sensibly avoid him. The two photos show him looking at the empty fat ball feeder, the second one after we had filled it up. He's so fat I'm surprised he can still fly.

                                                                    What- No fat balls

                                                                        That's better
