Fabric Birdhouse book finished at last

I have at last finished my fabric birdhouse book. The binding of it, nearly drove me mad, I used bookbinding tape in-between each double page. Why did I do so many pages, they were a real pain to bind together. For some of the last letters in the alphabet, I had to resort to the Latin names, mainly U and X.
I have just shown a few of the double pages as most of them were in earlier blog posts

Every Inchie Monday --Melody

For Every Inchie Monday the subject is melody. I immediately thought of the birds singing, and used some music tissue, and a shrink plastic bird to illustrate melody. The bird is sitting on a tiny twig from the birds nest on my window sill. (inside, in case you think I went outside to get one)

Artful Times Challenge 30--Vintage

For the challenge on Artful Times I have made a birthday card. If I have time next week, I'll make a fabric tag as well, vintage lends itself to fabric. I inked the background with distress inks, and used one of Tim's embossing folders. I stuck  a piece of paper lace at the bottom. and a border at the side. After I'd put the image on, I added the flowers. I couldn't resist making a vintage postcard as well, and used my favourite TH die of the dress form. Embossed it with the swirly folder, and inked it with Distress ink- Tea Dye. Stamped the other elements, and distressed them. Added lace and buttons.

Artful Times Challenge 29 --Blooming marvellous

The challenge on Artful Times is Blooming marvellous, and although I love flowers, I find them difficult to use in my work. I decided on a fabric tag this time, and started off by sewing the image to the tag, and then adding lace and the flowers.

Every Inchie Monday -- Flowers

On Every Inchie Monday the weeks subject is flowers. This time I decided to embroider them. I painted some pelmet vilene, and them embroidered the flowers.

Another finished piece

This is another embroidery I started at Celyn Textiles with Sheila Davies, and it has been a travelling piece that I took with me everywhere to do the hand embroidery on. It is mainly felted with bits of wool, overlaid with a piece of chiffon.
I have made it into a book cover for my day to day art journal.
The top one is the front and the bottom one a detail.

Every Inchie Monday -- Track

On Every Inchie Monday, the subject is track. Several ideas like tyre, train, animal track came to mind. In the end I decided on bird tracks in the snow. I found a piece of wadding fabric to represent the snow, and stitched on some bird like tracks. I blanket stitched the edges, and added some glitter on the fabric to look like snow, probably not visible on the scan

Finished another embroidery

This is another embroidery I started at Celyn Textiles with Sheila Davies. It's basically organza sewn onto Velvet, heated until it distresses, and then parts cut away and other bits embroidered. The colour is way out of my comfort zone, but I really enjoyed doing this one.. That another unfinished piece done. I am trying to finish all my UFOs before we move. That is if someone actually comes and buys the place.

Every Inchie Monday--Turtle

This week on Every Inchie Monday the subject is turtle. As I don't know which day of the week  it is, I forgot yesterday was Monday. So here is my turtle. Again I used shrink plastic, having stamped the turtle with Stazon. I coloured it with alcohol inks. I made her green, as we saw the green turtles coming ashore on Heron Island in the Great Barrier Reef, to lay her eggs.
