Paint Party Friday. Week 33 Year 11

My bird for this week on Paint Party Friday is a stonechat. I haven't seen one of these since I lived in the Highlands of Scotland. It prefers gorge habitats and perches on tops bushes and pounces to ground. It has a low flying habit.

Tag Tuesday - All Hallows Eve

For Michele's theme of All Hallows Eve on Tag Tuesday I have made another one with a distress inked background with various die cuts, a plastic spider and stamping.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words are 'A life without dreams would be just a life'  Hazel sitting on her massive pumpkin that she grew herself was busing dreaming. If only fairy tales like Cinderella would come true. She would meet the man of her dreams at the local dance on Saturday and the pumpkin would turn into a nice new car, instead of her old one which was really past its reliability date. But as usual there would be the usual gang at the dance and she would end up dancing with her girl friends as she didn't fancy any of the men. She didn't have to get ready for a while so she continued to dream, after all a life without dreams would be just a life.

Art Journal Journey - My favourite colour is October

On Art Journal Journey - My favourite colour is October, is the theme set by Tracey for this month. I have made a double page in my thin paper journal (I glued three pages together to make it stronger) The background is a mixture of a napkin photocopied, a bought paper and some blot off papers. I have used two tags as the main focus with a few die cut leaves falling from the trees on the tags.

Tag Tuesday - All Hallows Eve

Michele has chosen All Hallows Eve as her theme on Tag Tuesday and I have made a tag using distress inks and various rubber stamps. A die cut of a bat and grave yard, a small October calendar page and quote complete the tag.

Paint Party Friday Week 32 Year 11

A Willow tit this time on Paint Party Friday. It is a lovely little bird, often mistaken for the marsh tit as they are both found in similar habitats. I don’t think I have seen one here, but we did have some where we lived in Wales as we lived in an area of birch trees, which they love.

Thursday journal with Neet

Neet has come up with a few more Dyan quotes and the first one is "The journey is the start of the adventure" I have used my small flip journal this time, as all the pages in my large one are the wrong colour to fit in with Tracey's theme of My favourite colour is October on Art Journal Journey.                  Angie has suggested to her friend Paula that they go on an adventure. First of all we have to go on a bit of a long walk and at the end of this walk there is the most incredible haunted house, she explains to a somewhat dubious Paula. How far and how do we get there, Paula wants to know. Well, says Angie we go through the old churchyard and then - hold on interrupts Paula, I'm not walking through any churchyard, far too spooky, especially that one. Oh for goodness sake don't be such a baby Paula, think of it this way The journey is the start of the adventure, you will love it when we get there, it's magical. Well you can jolly well go on your own, I'll sit on this pumpkin and wait for you.

Art Journal Journey - My favourite colour is October.

An oak page for Tracey's theme on Art Journal Journey, where the theme is My favourite colour is October. I have stamped the oak leaves and quote on separate card , coloured the edges and used a walnut ink on the background before sticking the cards on.

Paint Party Friday Week 31 Year 11

It's the turn of the grey wagtail this week on Paint Party Friday. The great wagtail is the largest of the wagtail family in the UK, and is usually found near water. If you look closely you will see one on the photos below. It was catching small insects in the rill going into our koi pond.

Thursday Journal with Neet

The words this week are " I never insult anyone, I just describe them accurately" This is the last of Dyan's quotes, the next ones are some that Neet has found. We have given Dyan's a good run and need a break. Amy and Ellie are having a nice Autumnal walk in their local park and have stopped for a while to admire the lovely colours. Sitting on the bollards they are discussing some of their friends and what they might be doing on such a lovely day. Ellie is much younger than Amy and listened in horror as Amy began describing their friends. saying how much time they waste on the internet and how a good walk would do them all a lot of good. It will ruin their eyesight, too much screen time and all those harmful things you can get from the blue light that computers give out. I think they are sad, and need to get a real life instead of all the rubbish they watch says Amy. Ellie think Amy is being very unfair and tells her so. Amy's reaction to that is "I never insult anyone, I just describe them accurately"

Art Journal Journey - My favourite colour is October.

On Art Journal Journey Tracey's theme is My favourite colour is October. Another page for Tracey's theme. A distress oxide background, with stamped and die cut leaves. There are four strips of washi tape at the bottom and a stamped saying. Not very pleased with this one as I was struggling with very thin paper in the book. I have now glued several pages together and if that doesn't work I will have to buy some more  (proper) journal books. Who needs an excuse though --- not me.

Art Journal Journey - My favourite colour is October

Art Journal Journey - My favourite colour is October is the theme set by lovely Tracey for this month. I love the Autumn colours and the picture top right set me off on this page. The colours were just right so I coloured and collaged the rest of the page to go with it. The hedgehogs will soon be collecting the fallen leaves to make a nest too hibernate in. We have been feeding at least two all summer and have a hedgehog house all ready for them. I need to top it up with leaves but they are too wet at the moment. The top left is some information about them. I have added some die cut leaves and two small tags.I am also linking this to Try it on Tuesday where the theme is Autumn blessings.

Tag Tuesday - Purple and orange

On Tag Tuesday Pinky has chosen a colour challenge of Purple and Orange. I covered the tag with a wet wipe that I had cleaned a stamp with and just enhanced the purple with some ink. The leaves are die cuts.

Paint Party Friday Week 30 Year 11

For Paint Party Friday I have painted a puffin. In the UK they are generally found on the East Coast of England and the West coast of Ireland, I have yet to see one.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words are "Chaos, panic, disorder - My work here is done "  Where to start on this one. As I try to link it to Art Journal Journal, where Tracey's theme is 'My favourite colour is October'  I decided to go with one of the Dylusion cats. I started with a piece of wallpaper for the tree and drew some branches. I stamped some cobwebs and a couple of spiders. I coloured the cat in Autumn colours and added some die cut leaves. Smug the cat has been having fun, first of all he scared the blue bird who panicked and flew into the tree, where it is not happy, it hates spiders and there is one looking straight at him. He then shook the tree to make the leaves fall off. That also frightened a mouse who is hiding under the leaves at the base of the tree.  Feeling very pleased with himself, but annoyed he can't find the mouse he mutters to himself "chaos, panic, disorder, my work here is done"

Art Journal Journey - My favourite colour is October

The theme on Art Journal Journey this month is set by Tracey and is 'My favourite colour is October' Lots of subjects that fit this theme and knowing where to start is the usual problem Every month I make an art journal. There I enter what I've been up to in my studio  and any other important visits or events. Sometimes there are quite a few blanks as I leave it too long and then can't remember what I did or where  I went. It's called old age and lack of discipline.  So here is my October page which luckily I painted before we went on holiday last week. As Autumn was approaching and as luck would have it, it's the right colours for Tracey's theme.

Art Journal Journey - My favourite colour is October

On Art Journal Journey this month, lovely Tracey has chosen "My favourite colour is October" for her theme. I found an old book with small squares on every page, so thought I would use it for my AJJ pieces as I have filled the other one up. I covered the background with Distress oxide inks and used a leaf stencil with texture paste to give it some texture. I used a dictionary page  with Autumn on, and stamped the saying on separate card. I stamped some leaves and die cut others to add to the page.

Tag Tuesday -- Use book paper

Tag Tuesday's theme set by the lovely Sandie is Use book paper. This time I have used a page from Alice in Wonderland and it's about a cat playing with a ball of wool. It's a very modern picture of Alice, and as I couldn't find the stamp of the traditional one.

Paint Party Friday Week 29 Year 11

For Paint Party Friday this week I have painted a turnstone. I did this last week as we are in Cornwall on holiday this week, home tomorrow. The weather has been a bit unkind. A day of rain, a day of sun and that is how it has worked all week. We have managed two days on the beach with hardly anybody on them, so that was great. Too windy to paint, but plenty of photos to work with.

Two not very good pictures of them taken in St Ives Cornwall a few years ago.
