Art Journal Journey - Vintage

A vintage sewing page for my theme on Art Journal Journey. I started off by covering the page with a piece of old sewing pattern paper. and adding a few stampings. Some I stamped on card and added them afterwards. I started sewing on a treadle sewing machine like that when I was a young teenager. It was my nan's and I wish I still had it. It must have disappeared in one of mum and dads moves.

I like the page with the sewing accessories. The sewing machine reminds me of my Mom's Singer. I wish I still had it!
I've got two more modern machines but both are out of order and I have no time to deal with that.

I also learned on a treadle... one that belonged to my great grandmother and lived at granny's house. She was a quilter, and little me stood and watched her hand sew til she gave me squares to put together. I am still putting scraps together

A fantastic page for your AJJ theme. I also learned to sew on a treadle machine, it always seemed to be in use and I cannot remember if it ever had the cover on. Great inspiration Wendy.

My grandmother used her treadle machine until the day she died. I bought her a nice electric sewing machine for her birthday one year and she used it once. She hated it and I can see why. She was used to her machine, knew how it worked, and loved it. I think we've all had those nostalgic feelings at times. This is a wonderful entry you have given us for your theme at Art Journal Journey, and one that inspires me, too.

This is a great take on Vintage Wendy. I also like the bit of actual trim you added. It is funny how some things change a lot in time, but sewing paraphernalia in many ways hasn't. Or at least some of it hasn't. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs-Erika

One of our neighbours when I was little taught me to sew on her treadle machine. Then my mum bought a Singer with a handle - easier in many ways but I did love the sound of the treadle. Your page is just perfect for your theme. Hugs, Chrisx

So fun. My grandmother also had a sewing machine like that. I've used it when I was young. Unfortunately she sold it, I think she needed the money. Thank you for this great challenge, and also for your kind comment on my blog. I'm trying to develop some art skills, and you give me so much inspiration.
