"I don't mind the heat, it's the kitchen I can't stand" these are the words this week that Neet and I are illustrating. Diane is not fond of cooking at the best of times, but today the heat is quite fierce, so Diane is in as little clothing as she can manage. Tom the cat has had his meal and is going out in the cool. As he leaves Diane says to him " I don't mind the heat, it's the kitchen I can't stand" She had noticed that even her single flower picked from the garden was wilting badly.
I have drawn a set of kitchen cupboards and worked the scene around it. The figure is Dylusions and coloured with watercolour pens. The cupboards with distress inks.
In a bit of a hurry as I have left this until the last minute, but it does fit in with Sheila's theme of a single flower on Art Journal Journey.

What a fabulous modern kitchen, a lovely looking page Wendy, I hope there is nothing fatty on the stove that is likely to spat out at her dressed like that.
Hope we get some warm weather before too long, after all this lockdown we need some sunshine.
Hugs, Neet xx
What a fun journal page! My sentiments exactly! Quite a long time ago I had a coffee mug that said “I only have a kitchen because it came with the house”. The Dylusions character is so whimsical. The cat too. And that poor single flower. Love the background and I’m jealous of your nicely drawn kitchen cupboards scene.
That's a rather nice set of kitchen cupboards and pots and I love the way you link the flower to our "Single Flower" challenge theme at AJJ. It's my first wilted one, haha!
We've just painted our kitchen so I'm admiring the walls in Diane's kitchen.
She's chosen rather an interesting costume to cook in. One's wristbands must always match ones stockings.
Thanks, Wendy, for another great illustration and story for the challenge.
That fits so well with the sentence your kitchen scene with Diane that's really hot today and the flower hanging upside down!
Tom the cat, he'll think he'll be gone again quickly after feeding, laughing ...
Fabulous drawn, thought up and painted on!
Have beautiful day, hug Elke
I'm smiling at the words, I'm sure if everyone had a fine kitchen like that they'd be in it a little more. Great page Wendy, the single flower in the vase in a very nice touch.

Fabulous page! Love how you created the kitchen scene with stencilling and cupboards 😀. Take care and wishing you a happy Friday and weekend! Hugs, Jo x
My apologies for taking so long to visit. Still playing catch-up. I am totally impressed with your cabinets. I wish I had them in my home. They are fabulous. I also really love Diane in her outfit. That was clever. Thanks so much for also joining us at Art Journal Journey using Sheila's theme, too. That is one adorable "droopy" flower.
Very late seeng this - but it did make me laugh! Love how you got that one flower in there! Hugs, Chrisx
