Thursday Journal with Neet

The secret ingredient is resentment, those are the words to illustrate this week.                                Annabel, sitting on her house shaped stool is telling her friend Jenny all about her boyfriend. Jenny had heard most of it before but stood quietly listening to the latest moan. 'Would you believe it" she said, "he didn't even get me a bunch of red roses this year for Valentines Day, all I received was this single rose, and even that is pink not red. I didn't get chocolates, or a night out , but did get a cheap card with sloppy sentiments in it. He'll have to go, he obviously thinks chocolates will make me fat and a meal out would be a bit expensive when he can cadge a meal with me in my flat. As far as I am concerned at the moment the secret ingredient is resentment. I'm going to put an advert in the local singles column, there is bound to be someone better than him. What do you think Jenny?" Jenny didn't know what to say, so didn't say anything at all.

On Art Journal Journey this month,  Sheila has chosen A single flower for her theme. so this fits in with that.

So I would leave the man too * wink * Great, fabulous the portrayal of the friends and great the background to it. I love these characters and how you always design them differently!
Have a beautiful day, hug Elke

Like your page and how strange, we have both chosen to illustrate the background with leaves.
Nice story, not unbelievable either, can just imagine her sulking about the boyfriend and his lack of gifts for her. Mind you I think she is going to the extreme in putting an ad in the singles column - you don't know who lurks in those - perhaps that is what her friend is thinking.
Loved it!

First of all I've heard that her boyfriend knew of my Single Flower challenge at AJJ and he thought one flower would be a nice flower for her to illustrate. Could you let her know?
Apart from that I am saying nothing like Jenny.

This is a great story, I would have been struggling to illustrate "Resentment".
Your illustration says it all. I would like a coat like Jenny's, do you know where I can get one? And Annabel's stool is a great creation. Also the leafy background is inspired.
Thanks for the marvellous Single Flower story and illustration (like no other), I loved it.

Wow. Annabelle is "quite" the girl. A bit spoiled I say. This is another fun story Wendy. The sad thing there are girls like that, and perhaps we all have been a bit like that at points in our lives. But never as bad as Annabelle of course. Hope all is well and you are getting some springtime weather. Hugs-Erika

Did I remember to say thanks for joining us at AJJ? Maybe not. Well if not, thanks Wendy!

Such a beautiful page! I loved the narrative and the dark background of leaves looks amazing with those brightly coloured figures 😁. Take care and wishing you a happy Friday and weekend! Hope the sun's shining where you are. Hugs, Jo x

Hello Wendy, thanks for visiting my blog! I love this page, from the very cool background to the perfectly colored ladies. Haha, I'm thinking the gal on the right is thinking, atleast you got a rose - she is also being resentful! I bow to your being able to convey 'resentful', that seems tough to do, but well done! xoxo

I would have had trouble finding a way to illustrate that quote this week. I think you did a fabulous job. You found just the right balance between your tale and your images. Personally, I like Jenny better, because she seems less self obsessed than Annabel. I DO like Annabel's stool though. And the single rose is perfect for Sheila's theme at Art Journal Journey. Great way to work it into the challenge.

A fabulous page Wendy! I think Annabel should be more patient - my hubby bought me flowers this week - for the first time - we've been married 21 years this year! He does buy me lots of other pressies though so maybe she is right after all!
Hugs, Chrisx
