"My age doesn't bother me, it's the side effects" are this weeks words. For a change I made a background with long forgotten and hardly used pan Pastels. I quite like the soft effect they give, and I used a stencil on top. I gave the figure (Joan) grey hair, and three cats to keep her company. She is holding a single flower which fits in with the theme of A single flower, on Art Journal Journey, set by Sheila of Orange Esmerelda. The writing below the words highlights some of the side effects Joan finds with getting older. memory Loss, You talk to yourself, then answer as well, It's difficult to pick up things off the floor, Grey thinning hair, You can't remember why you went into the room and what you meant to fetch, The Grandchildren keep asking you how old you are, they can't believe anyone its that old. The list goes on, but Joan would rather talk to her cats than think of any more.

I've been using Pan Pastels for a few weeks now and find them so quick and easy which means it is good for me with my back problem. I love how you can get a lovely finish on card with them (thinking greetings cards I make here) when you give them a good polishing. (Check out some of Margaret Rose's work in KCUK)
Nice blend you achieved, isn't it easy with the Pan Pastels, and I love your figure - don't think I have that face so need to know which plate it is from, please. Oh dear, bet that list came easily to mind m- it is as if you read mine. Good idea!
Hugs Neet xx
Fabulous! The pastel background looks beautiful with the figure and quote - perfect 😁. Take care and wishing you a Happy March! Hugs, Jo x
I've not used Pan Pastels so will certainly look them up. You've got a great colour effect here with lovely blending.
Your not-old lady is terrific and I love her wrap-over gown. Nobody is old who wears these pretty shoes. And how nice of her to hold a Single Flower for the challenge.
The colourful cats are fun too.
Thanks for sharing this with my theme at AJJ.
Wonderful journal page, thanks so much for linking to us at AJJ! Have a great week! Hugs, Valerie
Love this and your list made me laugh! Brilliant colours here - and a very trendy looking oldie! Hugs, Chrisx
I love Joan. Her expression is priceless. And the comment about the grandchildren thinking no one could be that old made me laugh. Super page Wendy, and thanks for joining Sheila's challenge with that single flower. Hope all is well. Hugs-Erika
I have to apologize for missing so many of your posts last month. Due to surgery, then infection in the stitches, which landed me in the hospital, and finally, a rolling black out due to my energy company, I was offline most of the month of February. For that I am so sorry.
I loved what you created and I love how you made the woman older. I was impressed by all the ways you made her older. I really love how you added the single flower and the cats that the woman would rather talk to (I can relate). Thanks so very much for sharing this gem with us at Art Journal Journey using Sheila's theme. Again, I am so sorry I missed you most of last month.
I love the story and lady!!! The page is so fun with the cat and flower!
Fabulously thought out for the subject! Have a good day, hug Elke
A wonderful page Wendy!
It's no fun getting old :D
Happy Friday,
Alison xx
I Love this, it did make me smile, I know it well, especially the ending, as you can almost see their little brains trying to work out just how many millions of years old they think you are lol. Fabulous work. have a great weekend. Michelle
