Thursday Journal with Neet

The words this week are ' I refuse to become what you call normal'
I wasn't sure what too do for this one and messed about with different bodies and heads until I decided on this combination. The page started out as a mop up one, using the stencils from other pages and cleaning them with a baby wipe onto the page. I then used another two stencils for the border and leaves (all Dylusions)

I am also entering this in Art Journal Journey where Rike's theme is The colour yellow.

Tag Tuesday - Mushrooms/Fungi

My last tag for my Theme on Tag Tuesday. This time I used a tree stencil on the background and some wooden fungi that I painted with acrylic paints.

On-line art course - Happy Houses

Another on-line piece, this time's called happy Houses. It didn't matter whether they were straight, crooked or ruined, we just had to draw houses, castles, or whatever came to mind. This is my practice piece, and I will do one on watercolour paper as the paint didn't work too well on this.

Thursday Journal with Neet

My choice this week with "You are not yourself,  I noticed the improvement immediately. I was very tempted to put on an animal head for the one on the right, but thought better of it.  Maybe I should have just gone for it.
At the moment I am nearly keeping up with my on-line courses, and enjoying doing them. The trouble is as soon as I think I'm nearly there, another two pop up in the emails. As we are not opening the garden this year, I can do more art, but, if the weather is good, I will still be out in the garden. A no win situation.
We are also working towards an exhibition in the textile course, so will will put us to the test and keep us glued to the sewing machines.

I am also linking this to Art Journal Journey where the theme is 'The colour yellow'

On-line art page.

Hopefully this year I will get past the end of March before I give up. It's very hard to keep the momentum going. This one was supposed to be a self portrait, where you painted over a picture of yourself. My face had a lot of shadow on and there's 1/2" of paint on mine to cover it up. By the time I'd finished it didn't look a bit like me.

Art Journal Journey - Yellow

Another yellow page for Art Journal Journey, this time using birds as the main image. The background is made up of paper scraps in my bits box. I think that is now devoid of yellow bits.

Thursday Journal with Neet

"Smile, it's the key that fits the lock to everybody's heart" was chosen by Neet for this weeks challenge. Not many smiles on Dyan's stamps, so I gave her a slight grin. As I have left this until the last minute again, I really must get some backgrounds done in readiness. Where does the time go !!

On-line art work

This is one of my on-line pieces, we had to draw a celebration bird. ( to celebrate what we are happy about ourselves)
I just love the Blue Footed Booby, and my version has a Fair Isle jumper on to keep her warm.

Tag Tuesday -Mushrooms /fungi

My turn this week too choose the theme, so I have chosen Mushrooms/Fungi. I love the shapes of fungi, and like to eat some of them as well. When we lived in the Highlands of Scotland, we were surrounded by birch trees and the mushrooms and fungi used to grow on the trees and ground below them. I became quite expert in finding the ones we could eat  I hasten to add we are all still alive. The large tag is a piece of grey mount board so I decided to keep to the two colours . I started by using texture paste through stencil and then added stamped and coloured mushrooms. The smaller one is on a mop up piece of paper, with stamped and coloured Fly Agarics.

Homework

This is a print made with soy wax as a resist on deli paper. The deli paper was difficult to sew on as the machine stitches were acting as a perforation device. I think I can get away with it (Fingers crossed) It is all paper dyed with procion dyes, some of them with stencil or gelli print markings.
Have sewn the white background with a free machine stitching in circles ( well a few of them are circles) and the collaged edges in lines or grids.

Tag Tuesday - Hearts, hearts, hearts

My third and last tag for Tag Tuesday where the theme is Hearts, hearts, hearts. This time the tag is coloured with alcohol inks, and again has been in my pile of coloured tags for years. All the hearts were also in my pile of stash.
It's a good job I read through this before publishing, as the computer in it's wisdom had changed alcohol inks to alcoholics. Now a tag covered in alcoholics would have to be very large or gi-normous as my grandchildren would say.

Thursday Journal with Neet

My choice this week and the words are "If I'd known you were coming over, I'd have left the house" I have used yellow Dylusion paints, so that I can enter this in Art journal Journey's Theme of Yellow as well. Not an easy colours, as everything with it stands out like a sore thumb. As purple is yellows complimentary colour I used a bit of that, but then had to tone it down as it was too much. All the images are Dylusion.
The scan has dulled the colours quite a lot.

Art Journal journey The colour yellow

This month on Art Journal Journey Rike has chosen the theme of "The Colour is yellow"
As I don't use a lot of yellow I just opened my box of paper bits and took out all the yellow pieces (not a lot) I cut them up and placed them on the two pages I decided to do and found some previously coloured images to give them a focal point. I also used a stencil on the background.

Journal page

This is a the back version of the journal page I made from one of my on-line art courses. Once again I had to improvise with most of the materials, but I am very pleased with the result. It is not my normal type of journal page, as it is quite dimensional.

Tag Tuesday - Hearts, hearts, hearts

Another tag for Tag Tuesday, where the theme set by Michele is hearts.
Well the theme is hearts, hearts, hearts, so that's what I did. Lots of hearts on a background of torn up tissue paper that had been in my stash for ages, and I didn't know what to do with. The 3D flower has made the picture a bit blurry.

Journal page

This is a journal page I made from one of my on-line art courses. It used up lots of paper scraps from my stash, but most of it was my own version of the materials the tutor used. I didn't have a stencil with words on, or fine texture paste. After much searching I did find some die cut letters of Tim Holtz on Grunge board, but only after I had cut some myself.
