Thursday Journal with Neet.

This week the words are Bright and Beautiful, with Rainbow colours. Once again I used distress inks, and a stencil for the sun rays. I used Dylusion figures.
I have been away on a course for the last few days and took all the bits with me to put together in the evening. Doing great guns until I looked carefully at the words. I had managed to put two a's in because. Managed to do it when I came home.

Every Inchie Monday -- Bhutan

A country I knew nothing about, and I was really pleased to see that their National flower is the blue Himalayan poppy - meconopsis grandis, one of my favourite flowers. I have done a watercolour for my card inchie.
For the National bird I have sewn a raven eating a berry. It's not showing up on the scan, but I stitched the feathers with a shiny black thread. With hindsite I should have perhaps used a dark grey rather than black on black.

Thursday Journal with Neet

My choice this week and the theme is under the sea with the colours blue and turquoise. I would have done a double page for this one, but this journal has a ring binding so it isn't possible. I think I would like to do a large size Dylusion journal if we do it again when these are full.
I used distress inks for my background in mermaid lagoon, salty ocean and blueprint sketch, mainly using the oxides version.
I then used Dyan's stamps for the images and a few seaweed stamps for the rest.
I am also very late doing this as I have only just come home from my daughters. I will pop over to see what Neet has done when I have published this.

Tag Tuesday -- Locks and keys

My turn to host on Tag Tuesday for the next two weeks. I have chosen Locks and keys for the theme, and mine both have distress ink backgrounds with a few background stamps to start off with. I seem to have a good selection of charms, and  added some to both tags.

Every Inchie Monday -- Lithuania

This week we are in Lithuania, not the easiest one to find images for.  I have sewn the National bird which is the white stork. ( Looking a bit green on the scan)  The people of Lithuania consider it good luck if they nest on their house and still tell their children that the stork brings the babies.
For the flower I have drawn the Rue Graveolens, their National Flower.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week it was my choice and I chose Fossilised Amber and Rusty Hinge for the colours ( Distress inks) and Ammonite for the word. I used the two colours on the background and Vintage Photo for a third colour, with the ammonite stencil.
Having made my background which was easy I was then stuck, so sorry Neet couldn't resist doing this. Neet is a lot taller than me so Neet is the one on the left. I hasten to add we do not resemble in any way the Dylusion figures.

Every Inchie Monday -- Andorra

This week we are off to the tiny principality of Andorra, sitting in the Pyrenees between Spain and France.
One year when we came back from visiting some friends in Spain we came back through Andorra, as a friend had told us what a wonderful place it was. He's a professional artist, and obviously saw more of it than we did. The mountains are fabulous, but more spectacular in the Autumn, than in the Summer when we were there. The duty free bit didn't interest us which the border guards found very puzzling as we hadn't bought a single thing.
For my inchies have have sewn the National flower, the Narcissus Grandalla. (pheasant eye) The petals represent the parishes of the principality and the two coloured crown in the centre the princes of Andorra.
The National animal is the cattle so I have drawn a cow.

Thursday Journal with Neet.

Why do I leave this until the Wednesday night. !!!! This one because I was out in the garden nearly all week, and the fact that I couldn't think what to do. The colours were green and pale blue and the words 'Tulips from Amsterdam'
I used  Dylusion paint for the background, and stamped some tulips at the base. I used a Dylusion figure and drew a tulip head for her. It was difficult to make it look like a tulip and a person. Now I've finished it I can think of a better solution, typical.

Tag Tuesday -- Baby Love

It's Michele's turn this time to choose the theme for Tag Tuesday, and it is Baby Love.
I have found a photograph of my mum, which I can add to a tag book I am making on my family.
The background is Distress inks sprayed with water. I cut out a frame and edged it with a bronze pen.
Flowers, a butterfly and buttons were added to finish it off.

Every Inchie Monday --UK

This week we are at home in the UK, and boy did I struggle with this. I have been away a lot recently and am completely behind with everything. Also the garden needs urgent attention before we have our open weekends at the beginning of June.
I did two shrink plastic ones for the card entry, a red phone-box and a red postbox. The phone box sort of bent a bit in the shrinking.
I tried to do a red rose for the National flower, had two attempts and then gave up, at the same time I realised that it was the flower for England and I was having enough trouble with the rose, let alone putting a daffodil, thistle and a shamrock on it as well.
So red postbox it was.

Thursday Journal with Neet

Neet's choice this time and I must admit as this was done in a hurry and I am away for the rest of the week, it was done in a struggled hurry on Tuesday morning.
The colours are orange and brown and the theme Animal farm. That throw me straight away, as I have no farm animal stamps and was really stuck until I thought of George Orwell's book. It grew from there.
