More fabric bird houses

F for feathers

R for robin W for woodpecker

Some of these I will use in my alphabet project, some are surplus, as I made them before I decided to use them in the challenge. Do you ever wish you hadn't decided to do something, I seem to be alphabet enriched at the moment.
W for woodpecker is an obvious one, and I might use the top one for F for feathers. The robin might just squeeze in for R. Watch this space.

Bird house book

A for avocet
B for bluetit and bird. C for Cage

After going on a course with Angie Hughes, I am attempting to do a bird book that covers the alphabet. A very silly thing to do as I am struggling already. The pages have various different methods for the backgrounds, some are printed onto the backing fabric, some stamped, some just coloured. I have then added printed images on calico, smaller houses, napkin images, charms, fabric paper, lutrador birds and leaves, and some shrink plastic. I have entered the A, B, and C into a challenge, and am now trying to do the next three, I need a duck, some eggs and feathers. The last two are easy, must now look for a duck image to print. The other ones that I made earlier will follow soon.

Mixed media birds

Not quite back into the swing of things, but did manage to do a few swaps recently that took a bit of time. The template for these was a Stampington one, and I hope I have managed to do the right size. They flew off across the Atlantic yesterday, so I will find out soon enough.
They are a mixture of collage and stamping.

Tim Holtz 12 Christmas tags Day 2 & 3

Can anybody tell me why I made my tags so big, the second day one took some filling. Day 2 I had not a thing that was used by Tim, but day 3, wow I had the bird cutter. I found the second one quite difficult, as I have very few Christmas stamps. Pine trees yes, but no other useful ones. The bird is a wooden one that I have made into a robin, and as the top right hand corner looked bare I made a tissue flower .
The third one I enjoyed making as I love birds, and I could use my fav branch stamp. The lichen fell off a tree in the garden, and it was in and dried. No digging under the snow to find some. I didn't have tissue tape, so used stamped repair tissue, and an old button. The greetings thingy is stamped with two stamps, and attached with a paper clip, as I don't have any of the funny pin things Tim used.
I suppose I had better go and feed the men, they will be getting fed up with me being in here all day, making tags.. Tomorrow we have friends here for dinner, so I will make the next one on Sunday.

Alphabet journal B

I haven't been in the mood to do the journal for ages, and had started this one months ago. I am in a 'must finish this first' mode, so settled down to do it. I really want to do some sewing, but am determined to get all the unfinished projects done first.
This one is for the letter B, so blue, and birds came to my brain first, brain begins with B but I can't draw one of those.

ATC ---Nature

I have made this ATC for a friends birthday. The front was painted with gold acrylic paint and heated to make it bubble. The middle portion is gold embossing powder, I then added air dry clay words, mushrooms, and leaves.
The inside is made with foam board, covered in a page from a book, and inked. The nest, bird and mushrooms are made from air dried clay , and placed in the opening. The other side is inked and stamped. The butterflies and dragonfly are also air dry clay, and are very fiddly, as they are so thin and small. I have more dragonflies without wings than with.
The scan has unfortunately made the colours look a bit dull.

Collage. We had to alter Beryl

This is for a swap, where we were given a picture, and then had to alter Beryl. I just cut Beryl's head off, and gave her different bodies. In the first one, I gave her pink wings, with an inked and swirly background. She has her tame jackdaw at her feet.
The second one is a zetti Beryl, who has wheels, but really wants to fly like her yellow friend
The next Beryl, loves music, and has wings to fly.
The last one has her friend with her, and they are deciding who's planet to go back to.
These were good fun to do, and I hope whoever gets them, likes them

Gothic arch Birds

This weeks Gothic Arch swap is Birds. I just love birds, and lots of my work has birds on, but I struggled with this one. It has an inked background, stamped trees and small birds. The nest is made up of words fron the dictionary, with an image of a wren sitting on top.

Gothic arch Handwriting

The Gothic arch challenge this week was Handwriting. There had to be some of your own handwritng on the arch. I inked the background, and sprayed it with a gold Glimmer mist. The row of friends was added, along with a stamped branch, and some birds. I then wrote " True friends are like diamonds, precious and rare, false friends are like Autumn leaves, found everywhere. The edge of the arch has gold around it to finish it off.

Stampboard leaf hanging

These two pieces of stampboard have been sitting on my desk for months, so in a mad moment I turned them into a little leaf hanging.
The stampboard is coloured with alcohol inks, and stamped with a small fern stamp. The leaves are all made out of shrink plastic, as are the butterfly and bird. The two pieces are strung together with wire and beads

Postcard--- Emily and the birds

Still on the bird theme, but I needed to do something larger than a Moo, so made a postcard. I inked the background, applied some backing paper in places, and then stamped a few background images. Added Emily and the birds, and doodled a bit over the top. Much happier with this.

Birds

I'm on a bit of a bird theme at the moment, and these are ones I did for a recent swap
These are mainly watercolours, and are, apart from the doodle one, birds we get in the garden.
If I see a doodle bird here, I'll let you know

The one on the left is a redstart, and a rare visitor to the garden
