The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- H

For my tag entry on The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge For the letter H, I have chosen Haberdashery. I used an old pattern piece for my backgrounded then used various adverts and ephemera. I added a dress form from my stash and some scissors , safety pins, buttons and some thread.

Tag Tuesday -- Give me five

I wasn't really sure what to do for this one, no real subject to get my poor brain working. In the end I raided my stash of things I don't normally use and I was away.
There are 5 small tags, 5 small pieces of jigsaw, lots of stamped 5's and 5 number stickers. Not really my thing and not really happy with it.

Go Tag Thursday -- Go bold with colour

I've been over at my daughters looking after my three young grandchildren, I am now tired and not firing on all cylinders. I am a bit late with this tag for Go Tag Thursday, and have struggled to get going on anything today. I painted the background with Dylusion paints and used a stencil and stamping to finish the background.
I use and image and saying also from Dylusions. I am completely hooked on everything Dylusion, and use them a lot in journals and on tags. The small dopey looking dog is from Tim Holtz.

Every Inchie Monday -- Petunia.

A bowl of petunias appears in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. So I have drawn and sewn a bowl of petunias.

Thursday journal with Neet

This week we are to add a bird on our journal page. As I have only just come home from my holiday in the Highlands this page was done in a bit of a hurry. The background colours were done already, so it was just a case of thinking of what to do. As I own five cats, sorry I mean they own us, I decided to use the dog and cat people of Dyan's.

I am also entering this in The Craft Barn fortnightly challenge, which is Blue or Blues.

Journal page -- Scottish Brochs

With very little equipment I have managed with great difficulty a tip in journal page. I will attach it to my journal when I get home. I will also do a bit of stamping on it.
I have used a pamphlet of the pictish brochs of which there are 500 in Scotland I have put some information on my page. We went to see one of the most complete ones near Glenelg.
For the main background I used a scrap page that I had used to ink on. I adhered some pictures from some brochures on the Broch that was near us in Applecross .
When I arrived home I stuck the page in a journal after inking and stamping the background. I also added a pocket at the side to put more information in.

I am entering this in  :             Try it on Tuesday  -- Book pages, and

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge -- Travel

Dun Telve at Glenelg, one of the most complete one in Scotland.

Go Tag Thursday -- book print

On Go Tag Thursday this week the task was use book print. I have made a tag using the book pages as a background, and adhered an image. I then added some flowers with print on and a few stamped ephemera.

Tag Tuesday -- Shoes, hats and bags

Not my thing really, but I did enjoy doing this one. Luckily I had quite a few stamps that fitted the bill.
The usual distressing background with the large shoe stamped faintly in the background. The others were done on separate card and stuck on. I love the stamp in the bottom left and haven't used it for years.

Every Inchie Monday -- Dolphin

This week it is a dolphin to try and get on an inch.
My sewn one I used my fine leather on a felted background. The stampbord one is shrink plastic on a painted background.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the theme is time, one of my favourite ones. I really enjoyed doing this page and used some stamps that I hadn't used for ages. I have also used one of my favourite time stencils. I am away on holiday in the Highlands so hope this schedules OK, as I find it impossible to do these from an iPad.

Tag Tuesday -- Feminine

Last week was masculine and this week we follow on with Feminine. My tag was distress inked to start with and I then stamped the Crafty Individuals stamps in black. I stamped some lace in the background and added some flowers at the bottom.
I am in the Highlands of Scotland so just hope this posts OK.

Every Inchie Monday -- Fiord

Not an easy one to sew when you are in a fearful hurry and you can't get everything in the car ready to go to the Highlands with my youngest and family. Three grandchildren for 10 days will be a first. Did I hear some of you say and probably the last time as well. There isn't any sewing on this, it's a fabric collage. The stampbord one is painted and I am well pleased with that one.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- Z

This is my dictionary page for Z. I have a sight problem with this, as I was in a hurry to scan it and get it on my iPad before we came up to a remote place on the West coast of the Highlands, with my youngest daughter and her family.
I forgot to add a pearl. I will make a pearl with my pearl pens as soon as I get home, which will be after the finish date. So please can everyone pretend there is a pearl on the dictionary page.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- Z with a pearl

Gosh this was a difficult one on The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge this time, especially as we had to include a pearl. I chose to do zip for my tag entry. The background is distress ink and I found an old pattern with instructions on how to put a zip in. I cut it up and used it for my background. I then stamped my one and only zip stamp and adhered it to the tag. I put a pearl on the end of the zip puller.
There are a few lines of zig zag stitch as well.

Go Tag Thursday -- Beach huts

One of my favourite subjects this week, Beach huts. I used texture paste at the bottom for the
sea, and stuck on some real sand, pebbles, and sea shells. It a peaceful scene without any people, only seagulls to disturb the sound of the sea.

Thursday journal page with Neet.

The task with Neet this week was to do a double page, so here is my version.

Tag Tuesday -- Masculine

On Tag Tuesday the theme this week is Masculine. I really enjoyed making these, and they both have a vintage feel. Both have distress inked backgrounds with a background stamp added first of all. I then stamped the images on card and cut them out. On one I have added some shrink plastic images and on the other a pocket watch brad.

Go Tag Thursday -- Children.

Another children tag for Go Tag Thursday. This time a more vintage one, with a background of distress inks and some stamped photo images. I added some lace to finish off.

Every Inchie Monday -- Whale

Putting a whale on an inch seems like an impossible task, but I'm sure everyone will manage it in some form or another.
My stampbord one is shrink plastic killer whale, and my sewn one made from fine leather. I struggled with this at my daughters with a mad dog running around distracting me, and material that wouldn't fold in a straight line.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- C

This is my dictionary entry in the eleventh hour for The Craft Barn Challenge.
For C this time, I have chosen crow and stamped several images onto my dictionary page, and used a small die cut of a group of crows on a branch. I have been away for the weekend and had forgotten to post this one.

Go Tag Thursday -- Children

For this tag on Go Tag Thursday, I covered the tag with old fabrics that I used to make clothes for the girls who are now 42 and 49. I stamped the Crafty Individuals children and coloured them with Distress markers. I added a bit of lace at the side to finish it off.

Craft Barn Fortnightly Challenge

I don't normally do this challenge on The Craft Barn,  but as it was for a beach scene with a beach hut, I couldn't resist it.  The substrate is a canvas board that I made on a retreat many years ago. There is another one to go with it to make book covers. That means I will now HAVE TO do a beach book to go into the covers. The canvas had only been painted in the sand and sky colours, which I then painted over and used some texture paste for the sea.
I then stamped and coloured some beach huts and adhered them to the background. I stuck on some shells and stone bits. The finishing touches are some die cut seagulls. Now I have to do the back cover and make some pages. Please don't hold your breath.

I have also entered this on the Country View Challenge for August == Hot Summer Days.

Thursday journal page with Neet

For our 4th journal page we have to include an insect other than a butterfly. I have chosen the bee to go with the flowers. The printed saying is 'Until you spread your wings, you have no idea how far you'll fly' My writing says 'Not with these wings, they are upside down'
This challenge is a really good idea as it is making me do art journal pages. This particular journal had had nothing done in it for a year.

Wanderlust Art journal pocket page with Rachel Grieg

I really enjoyed doing this lesson and made the journal page soon after I had watched the videos. Rachel is the owner of Darkroom Door rubber stamps, and is a very good teacher. She guided us through all the different stages of the page and her methods suited me very well. I had the stamps and inks necessary and off I went.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- C

For the challenge on The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge I have chosen to do Clocks for my tag entry. The background is distress inked, and then texture paste put through a cogs stencil. I then used some Paperartsy stamps for the numbers and background. The saying is from Tim Holtz, and the stamped clock I crackle glazed. I finished off with a shrink plastic clock and a couple of charms.

Tag Tuesday -- Celebrations

I was a bit stuck on this one, as there are so many things to celebrate. In the end I decided to celebrate a new life. Luckily I found all the stamps I needed, and at the same time found that my word type stamps need a sort out. What a jumble of things I found with a few Ooh I forgot I had that one moment ( too many in fact)

Every Inchie Monday -- Sheep

A nice easy one this week. I made a shrink plastic sheep and a felted one for the sewn one. I wonder what the other ladies have done ?
