Artful Times DT piece -- Birds

On Artful Times the theme is birds, one of my favourite subjects.mes, Artful
I have decorated a box this time. I painted it with acrylic paints and then used the magpie masks and used texture paste around them. I used some metallic paints for the birds to give them some shine, and acrylic paint for the background textured bit. I cut out some of Tim's tattered leaves in grunge paper and coloured them with paint. The leaves were then stuck down, leaving some bits sticking up for a more 3D effect. I stamped a few images around the sides of the box. Now what shall I put in it, as it's compartmented inside. Bird charms perhaps.

Try it on Tuesday -- Tic, Tac Toe

This time on TIOT we were given a grid with words on, and we had to choose a line and use the materials on that line. I chose Cardboard, string and buttons.
I started out with some corrugated card and distressed it. I painted it with Fresco paints and added some plasterers joint tape for some texture. I embossed some of the edges with copper embossing powder. I then added some string, and buttons as well as all the other ephemera. This will be another page for my vintage sewing book.

Tag Tuesday -- In the style of

On Tag Tuesday it's in the style of. I was spoilt for choice here. I could have been idle and made a tag in the style of Tim Holtz, but decided to set myself something a bit more challenging. I therefore went for Gustav Klimt. I love his geometric designs and colours even though they are ones that I don't use much myself. I sort of copied one and coloured it with crayons, and the second one I used printed papers, doodled on them, and drew a ladies face. I used to love colouring as a child but find it a bit of a chore as an adult.

Every Inchie Monday -- Snail

Every Inchie Monday the word is snail. For the stampbord one, I have painted a leaf with a shrink plastic snail chewing away  on the fresh green leaf. For the sewn one, I have curled up some embroidery yarn and sewn it onto a green background with a chewed leaf at the top.

Tag Along -- Travel

On Tag Along this week the theme is travel. I have chosen to go to Paris ( I wish)  I inked the stamp with distress inks and stamped a script stamp near the base. I stamped the Notre Dame on a separate  piece of card and adhered that and an image of the Eiffel Tower. I made a bottle top embellishment that says Paris or bust inside. A few extra stamps and  a Fleur de Lys charm finished it off.

Tag Along -- Warm colours

On Tag Along this week they have asked us to use warm colours. So orange it is. I distress inked the tag and used a text stamp with vintage photo. I then embossed with copper the image. I used a die cut for the cog border and added some extra cogs that I inked and embossed. A Tim Holtz ticket and a few words finished it off.

Tag Tuesday -- Text

For Tag Tuesday this week text is the word. I was tempted to cover a tag with words, but then thought I would add an image as well. I inked the tag with distress inks, and stamped over it all with my favourite text stamp. I then started to cover it all up with  an old book page and my image. I added a smaller tag with a saying and a couple of really small ones with a word on. I finished it off with some lace and flowers.

Every Inchie Monday -- Texts

Not an easy on this week on Every Inchie Monday. Although putting some text on an inch square seems easy, doing in with a needle and thread was a bit tricky. For the stampbord one I inked the surface, and then scratched the ink off for the text.

Paperartsy Blog challenge No 3 -- Paint

Paint is the challenge on the Paperartsy blog, which is very fortuitous as I have just finished a set of coat hangers for our cloakroom.
They were plain wood, so my first job was to seal them with Gesso. I then made a few fronts and a roof or two with metal and embossed them and rubbed treasure gold and a smudge of paint on them. Some of them I added texture with texture paste through stencils, and then painted them with Fresco paints. When they were dry I added a coat of crackle glaze to some of them, and then another coat of Fresco paint. The Paperartsy crackle glaze is the best one I have ever used and works every time. I used some fluid acrylic paint on some of the houses to highlight different areas.
PS If any of you enlarge the pictures, the size 16 hanger is not mine. ( honestly)

Artful Times DT piece -- Romance & Try it on Tuesday -- Add a photograph

Well, so much for me not doing another heart thingy. I had forgotten that Artful Times had romance on the cards for this week.
I just dare not use the two previous tags, so set about doing something other than a tag.
I have had this heart shaped perspex box that a friend gave me for years and decide it was time it came out of hiding. For the inside of the box, there is a heart shaped book to make. Not this year though. I'll save that for next year.
I covered it with some of Tim's tissue wrap, inked it with distress inks, and adhered a photo of a couple and several different types of hearts. Added the Eiffel tower die and red roses for their honeymoon element. The lowest heart is wood that has been inked and stamped with text in gold.

I will post this for Try it on Tuesday as well as their theme is to add a photograph

Tag Along -- Rethink Gesso

A very quick, simple tag for Tag Along. You are asked to rethink Gesso. On  a distress inked background with water drops, I have used the gesso through a stencil for the umbellifera, I then added some die cuts.

Tim Holtz style tag -- February Tag Tuesday -- Valentine.

Tag Tuesday's theme this week is Valentine. I am using my February Tim Holtz tag for this as well as my vintage journey one. I stuck TH  tissue paper onto the tag and sealed it with glue and seal. I then added various collage pieces, and an image, and sealed them. I added some lace, a metal frame, a few TH ephemera  and a hand made felt heart. The Vintage journey tag is here

Every inchie Monday -- Night

On Every Inchie Monday the word is night.
For the stampbord one, I inked the surface with alcohol ink. When it was dry I scratched away the surface for the moon and stars. The houses I used a darker ink, and scratched the surface to show house lights.
The sewn one has a background of felt, with felt houses in the foreground. I used an orange thread for the house lights and a metallic one for the stars.

A Vintage journey -- Love is in the air.

On a vintage journey,  Love is in the air is the theme, and as I don't normally do things with lots of hearts it was a real challenge for me. I started off with corrugated card and distressed it. I then painted it with red acrylic paint, crackle glaze and then Fresco vintage lace paint. While that was drying, I  painted a wooden heart with my new Pebeo moon paints in red and silver. The background of the tag was then stamped with red ink. I added the saying, a Tim Holtz type heart, a stamped heart and several die cut hearts. There is also a handmade felt one. I attached the ribbon to the base of the tag added a TH key hole and finished it off with some beads hanging from the bottom.

I am also going to put this on next weeks Tag Tuesday.

Tag Tuesday -- Blues

On Tag Tuesday the theme is Blues.  For the background,  I used a scrap of paper that I had used when spraying for something else, and there was just enough to cover the tag. I stamped a few images down the sides and added the two little girls.and the saying. The flowers and butterfly were added at the end.

Every Inchie Monday -- Kitchen

On Every Inchie Monday, the word is kitchen. For the stampbord one, I made a balsa wood front view of a kitchen, painted some tiles and penned in some handles. For the sewn one I made a wok out of shiny silver fabric, embroidered some food, and added some flames and steam.
