Although this weeks word on Every Inchie Monday gives us a lot of choice, they are not easy to portray on an inch square. The renaissance period was during the 14th-16th centuries, when there was a revival in the arts, and the fashions of that period were very distinctive.
I have gone for good ol' Mona Lisa, and shrank her. I was very surprised how small the painting was, when we went to see it in the Louvre. The sewing one is a very feeble attempt at Elizabeth the 1st with her ruffled type necklines. Not easy on an inch. I hope these fit the period.

Feeble attempt?! That's a brilliant fabric inchie! It is very distinctive and I recognised immediately.
Do you know, i's interesting how many perceive the Mona Lisa to be smaller than anticipated. To me she looked larger than anticipated - I was expecting to see a tiny picture after all the talk. She didn't impress me at all. Other than that, anything related to Mr. Da Vinci never stops impressing me.

I think they are both great and as soon as I saw the stitched one I thought Elizabeth 1. When I look at a one inch square I marvel at what you manage to convey in such a very small space.

great inchies. Your Elizabeth is fabulous - white face, ruffle, red hair- who else could it be? Mona is a good Renaissance inchie too.

Fabulous - and I knew who the stitched one was just from the top of her hair. How you managed to depict her so brilliantly in such a small space is amazing.
