Artful Times -- Made on wood

My daughter wanted two boxes decorated for her birthday, Karen supplied the wooden boxes and asked for one of them to be Autumn/leaf style colours and the other one green. By the time I managed to do them I had forgotten the second colour. The first one was no problem, but the second one, my husband (no artist) suggested I did it in the colours of her newly decorated cinema room. White, Black and red, GULP, I'm not happy working in those colours. These boxes fitted in well with the theme on Artful Times.
I painted both  with gesso, and set about painting the first one with Fresco paints. I then applied some texture paste, and stamped into it with leaf stamps. I then added metal leaves, that I embossed, and coloured with alcohol inks. I stamped some sayings on the smooth bits. The camera photo has come out  a lot paler than the actual box.

For this one, I painted it white, and used texture paste through a stencil for some texture. I used paint through stencils as well. I added some cogs in red and black metal, and stamped some of the Paperartsy time sayings on to finish it off.

Love the box with the leaves on it and the white one will go perfectly with the cinema room. Your daughter is sure to like it, even if it isn't green!

Love the impressed and metal leaves on your first gorgeous box. The colours on the second aren't my cup of tea either but full marks for going along with it!

Two lovely boxes Wendy - love the black cogs etc in the top left corner - they kind of look as if you used a diffuser to do it.
Am sure Karen will be delighted with both.

From the receiver (daughter) they are much much more lovely up close and personal. Wonderful and the one in the cinema room is just perfect with my red feature wall!

Love the boxes, the texture paste works really well. Must try using red more often, sometimes a bit scary!!
