Every Inchie Monday Challenge --Star

I have decide to join a few more challenge sites, this one is to make an inchie every week, I doubt I will make it on a Monday very often. In fact I am only just in time for this first one for 2013. They are both made from felted wool, with organza on top, and sewn down with the machine. The subject was a star, so one of them has a button on, and the other a brad. My supply of stars is somewhat limited.
I would like to make them all from fabric, but some of the future subjects will be in card, too difficult for fabric with just a square inch to work on. Because of the metallic thread around the outside the scan make them look very tatty. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

I managed to keep up with the tags until May, so my New Year resolutions was to finish all my unfinished work. This included the rest of Tim's tags, and here they are so far. February to June's, without the help of all of Tim's dies. It's very good for the inventive side, to try to find things in your stash that will do the job.

Here are the July to October tags. I really enjoyed doing the September and October ones. I found making the roses on Augusts, from Tim's tattered pine cone die somewhat frustrating, even though I watched his video. I was too lazy to get my glue gun out, and used my trusty UHU to stick them together. Even though I don't have all of the dies and stamps, I was quite pleased with the results.

November and Decembers I hope to finish during the next week. I am having a break, and tackling some  unfinished sewing UFO's 

Tim Holtz style tags January 2013

This year I am going to try and be good and keep up with Tim's tags.  I am still catching up on last years tags, and have November and December's still to do. I will post pictures of the others in the next blog post.

For this one, I embossed the tag and coloured it with distress inks. I coloured the cogs with the metallic distress stains, tried to sand them down, and put some distress inks on top. I stuck these and a small ammount of film strip in position, and added metal and card cogs on top. I didn't have Tim's word stamp so use a Paperartsy one, which I really like. This and the hand stamp were then added. The ribbon I stamped with a calendar stamp.  

Artful Times Challenge 19

For this challenge we had to use blue, silver, ribbon, and a female.
I decided to add to my fabric tags, and this time I stamped the image onto white cotton, and zig zagged it to the fabric tag. I then added silver and sari ribbon to the bottom, and some lace to the base of the image, and to the top of it. The flowers came next, and these were sewn on with pearl beads.. The final bit of blue was added with the ribbons at the top.

Artful Times challenge No 18 Anything goes

This challenge was for anything you fancied putting in. So, as I was making a fabric postcard depicting the beach, for a swap, I decided to put that in for the challenge.
I started of by cutting fabric into strips and placing them onto some pelmet vilene. The first bit I tackled was the sea. I placed some silk tops onto the fabric and free machined on top, getting darker at the top.
I then did some random sewing on the edge of the sea, coming onto the beach, in a darker sand colour. The pebble fabric was cut out and I did some free machine embroidery on that, plus some posts in brown.
The sky I used white wool for some clouds, well it is nearly always cloudy in the UK.

Artful Times challenge N0 17 Fabric tag

The challenge this time was for a fabric tag, and my mind went straight to vintage. Please don't ask why.
I started off with some oatmeal coloured fabric, and placed my image on top. This was a transfer I had in my  fabric bit box. I then sewed on some lace at the top and bottom of the image. I made some flowers from organza and sewed them on with beads. The whole tag was then zigzagged on to pelmet vilene.

Given more time at home, I would have made one that wasn't vintage------I think
