Altered tags

I just felt like messing about with scraps of paper and texture paint, so set about altering some gift tags. One of my daughters had bought some fairly strong brown gift tags, so in true craft mode fashion, I gathered them up from the rubbish bag and brought them home. The tags measure 3 3/4" x 1 3/4"
I have used small scraps of paper, printed dictionary pages left over from the Craft Barn challenge, texture paste and some Golden fluid paint. I then did a small amount of stamping with black ink.
I am going to stick them on the front cover of my large Dylusions journal.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- P in my dictionary

For the last letter for the Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge in my dictionary, I have used P for portrait
I have stamped several portraits straight into the dictionary.

Here are my tags for 2016

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- P

This is the last letter in The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge, and the letter is P. I have used Parrot for my tag. I stamped and coloured the parrot. I then used texture paste through a leaf stencil on the distress inked background. I used some die cuts for the leaves at the bottom. The brown dot near the parrots head is chocolate, now how did that get on the scanner. Luckily it didn't transfer to the tag. I wonder if parrots like chocolate!

Thursday Journal with Neet

Neets choice this time and it was 'The colour is blue'. I found a double page that I had already painted and stencilled so I went with that one. The background just said sea to me so that is what I did. I used my Indian wooden blocks for the fish and one of Dyan's for the one eyed octopus. I did die cuts for the seaweed. The top is a photograph and a bit duller then in real life. The scans are much truer to the correct colour.

Tag Tuesday -- A Winter walk

I didn't find this very easy as I couldn't find the photographs that I thought might do. In the end I used a birch tree stencil, and used distress inks through it to give a wooded effect. I added some texture paste for snow on the pathway and the tree trunks. I stamped the picture of the small child and placed it on the path. Don't worry his mum's just behind him.

Every inchie Monday -- Letter

For the last letter of the year on Every Inchie Monday the word is letter. I have sewn the letter C in red on a green sewn background for Christmas. I have drawn a written letter on the stampbord.

Below are my years collections, sewn ones at the top.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- M in my dictionary

My entry for the Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge in my dictionary is machine. I have stamped various machines ranging from a sewing machine to an air ship.

Thursday Journal with Neet.

Now why on earth did I choose this theme. How many words are there in the dictionary, and how long did it take me to find one I could use in my journal to use with my Dyan stamps. The answer is all week off and on. I used an already inked page and printed out the page I was going to use in my dictionary and coloured it to blend in a bit. I left my chosen word RECLINE in white. I added my image and some stamping. I couldn't resist the quote.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- M

For the last but one Dictionary Challenge on The Craft Barn the letter is M.
I have chosen the word mask, and have illustrated it with stamped and shrink plastic images. I associate masks with Venice so have used a few Venice stamps in the background.

Art Journal Journey -- Light and Darkness

For the challenge on Art Journal Journey the theme chosen by Valerie is 'Light and darkness'. I have found this quite difficult to portray and have been too busy to do more pages. I have made a sunset/ sunrise, the collage would do for both.

Tag Tuesday -- Gifts

I have made a vintage christmas tag for this challenge as I couldn't think of anything else to do. Not my usual style either.
I also have the grandchildren here, and now have the job of getting a load of ink off my work surface as they all had a go at rubber stamping. I think I can figure out how Eleanor age three had fish and bells up her right arm ( She's left handed)

Every Inchie Monday -- Ugly

I have done the same this week as last week and made a 3D face for ugly. For the stampbord one I have shrunk two dogs that I think are ugly. No don't panic, they weren't real dogs.

Go Tag Thursday -- Vintage Women

For my tag on Go Tag Thursday I have distress inked the background and used a vintage advert for my image. I have adhered some lace, buttons and a sprig of wooden flowers.

Thursday Journal page with Neet

A bit late today as I struggled with this one. Neet says it was one of my choices, but if it was I wish I hadn't thought of it. As I hadn't a ready painted page that suited this one, I have done a black and white one. I didn't have any moon stamps, so ended up painting a moon and using some stamps for the images. I added the leaves to break up the blackness and couldn't resist putting a cat on it as well. He does look a bit cheesed off that he now has to sleep outside instead of his cosy bed.

Tag Tuesday -- Moon and stars

A very quick tag this week as I am pushed for time along with everyone I suspect. I used dark blue card and stamped and coloured the owl. The stars have glitter on them and the moon is painted.

Every Inchie Monday -- Grin

Nearly there now just two more after this one. It has been a very interesting year of inches as some of them have made our brains work overtime. For the sewn one this week I have made one of my 3D heads and a drawn one for the stampbord.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge in my dictionary --Y

This is my entry for the The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge for Y, in my dictionary this time. I have chosen the word Young, but it also includes, Youth and Youngster. I have stamped three images of children.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- Y

I'm not sure where the last few weeks have gone as I seem to have left this challenge on The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge until very late.
I have collaged the tag with thin paper and added a few die cuts for the tree branches. I fussy cut the yellowhammer and he is now perched on the tree.

Go Tag Thursday -- Music

On Go Tag Thursday the theme is music, and for this tag I have covered it with some sheet music and added some images of Beethoven and Wagner. I finished off with some stamped notes and a charm.

Thursday Journal with Neet

My choice this week, and we have to include a tag. My page was already painted and the pocket ready at the bottom. All I had to do was decorate the background and make a tag. I already had the small one, so made a large one that sort of went with it

Tag Tuesday -- Candles

Apart from drawing some I found I had nothing in images or stamps for candles. So if you look carefully there are two red candles in the window made from some shiny red paper and some gold fabric flames.

Go Tag Thursday -- Christmas trees/tree

Mine aren't strictly Christmas trees, but I haven't dared open my large box of Christmas papers and stamps yet. It will make me feel guilty as I haven't made any cards yet. I hope this will fit the bill for this weeks theme on Go Tag Thursday  The scan unfortunately doesn't show the glitter on the texture paste that I put on the trees.

Every Inchie Monday -- 42

Apart from writing 42 this was not easy. I'm too tired to think outside the box, it's too near Christmas.
For my sewn one I have used beads to make the 42. The stampbord one incorporates the question of which 42 is the answer.

Fabric postcard -- Trees

This time the postcard with Annie had to have a tree on it. I always make two, and as I'm now working on a tree book, this will eventually be in the book.

Ministry of Mixology workshop

These are the mixed media pieces I made at a recent workshop with Brenda brown, Andy Skinner and Mark Gould. These all these are Industrial, vintage type projects using a great selection of Deco-art products. I love the Andy Skinner stencil of the  ammonite on the top one, and didn't want to place the cog thingy in the middle like everyone else did.

                                            With Andy Skinner

                                                           With Brenda Brown
On this one I have used a picture of my Mum's grandfather and three aunties.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week was to have eyes on the page. Well one eye isn't enough, so off I went with my rubber stamps and cut out some more stamped ones. I then added sayings. The large eye is from a Vision express advert. I think this theme was chosen by Neet, so I wonder what's on her page.

Tag Tuesday -- Christmas stockings

This was not easy, as I didn't know how to attempt it. In the end I cut out and painted a stocking shape. and cut out some things to put in my stocking. I then covered the stocking with some acetate.

Every Inchie Monday -- Question

I just couldn't get my brain around this one and did the simplest one I could think of. I am away for a week and have scheduled this post. When these inches go up on the blog you can see how awful your writing is.

Go Tag Thursday -- Sport

Not a stamp in sight for this subject on Go Tag Thursday. so I had to resort to two vintage photographs and a picture of various balls. I did manage to find a tennis racket charm.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- I in my dictionary

My entry of the Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge in my old dictionary is I for insect.
I seem to have quite a few stamps for insects so off I stamped.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we had to include an envelope. My choice this time and when I looked at a blank page I did wonder why I suggested this one. I had already made the two orange flaps at the side, so decided to stick the envelope to the one on the left. I decorated the envelope and then did the other surfaces. As you open the envelope it opens the left flap, you can see the backdrop. The envelope has another envelope inside.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- I

For the letter I in the Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge I have made an Indian tag. It's a mixture of stamped and printed images, with a couple of Indian postage stamps. There are also some gems and a piece of Indian ribbon.

Tag Tuesday -- Farms, fields, patchwork landscape.

I decided to paint this one as I didn't have time to sew one, which I did intend to do. Where does the time go ? Not very happy with it, done in a rush.

Try it on Tuesday -- Trees are green or any other colour.

A quick last minute entry for the Trees are green  theme on Try It on Tuesday. It's the cover on one of my journals. The background is a gelli plate on Khadi paper with a mixture of real leaves and two cut out ones.

Every Inchie Monday -- Lighting

Not an easy one to portray on an inch and my sewn laser lights, although sewn with very bright metallic threads doesn't show up very well. The stampbord one is taken from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the robot and ? are standing on something that looks like a landing strip with lighting on the edge. These are small gems.
