Deco Pages for a swap

I made these 5" x 5" pages for a swap on KCUK, where the recipient wanted Spring flowers for her book. My pages were coloured with distress inks for the background, and the images stamped on top. I coloured them with Inktense crayons.

Tag Tuesday -- Holes

For this challenge I have made four tags that each have holes of descending sizes that fit on top of each other to form a tunnel. The seaside theme is one of my favourites, so this time I concentrated on seahorses. All the tags have distress ink backgrounds, with the seahorses and seaweed stamped on top. I added a die cut to go across the top hole.

Bird trio

I made these whilst staying with one of my craft friends for a few days. They are made out of scraps of fabric and sewn down with machine embroidery in rows. You then cut out circles from then fabric you have just made, then fold them in half. After giving them legs and beaks hey presto, you have birds. All that needs doing after that is to embroider an eye and zig zag around the edge.

Tim Holtz style tags -- April

I had absolutely nothing that Tim used for the April tags, so just used the basic idea and used anything that remotely resembled his. I used two of my poppy stamps on watercolour paper and then used distress markers to colour the flowers. I used wooden letters for the words at the bottom.

Every Inchie Monday -- Shell

The word this week on Every Inchie Monday is shell. I did, of course, go down the seaside route and made some shrink plastic shells for the stampbord one and embroidered a shell on the other one.

Artful Times DT piece -- A little bit of Finnabair

I have made a canvas for this challenge as one of my daughters had put in a request for one. I love the textures of Finnabair's work so making this was a pleasure. I stuck all of the material, lace and printed canvas strips on first and then added the other elements. The whole canvas was then painted with black gesso. After that had dried and I had pulled some more weeds up out of the garden I started with white acrylic paint at the top gradually lessening the amount towards the bottom. I then added blue to go with the Karen's hall colours. Her house number is 37 so I added the numbers on at the top. I sprayed the lower half with a blue mica colour. The leaves are made from copper and painted. Some of the flowers are metal, some paper.

Some close-up pictures

Neet has made a canvas as well, so if you want to see hers you will find it here

Tag Tuesday -- Away with the fairies.

Away with the fairies is the subject this week on Tag Tuesday. Not my subject at all, but I did have two rubber stamps so used those as my main focus. One of the stamps is the same image as Val's computer image, so must be a well-known fairy. The background is distress inks sprayed with a copper spray. The images are stamped on a previously inked card. I coloured the fairies with acrylic inks. Flowers were adhered at the end to finish it off.

Every Inchie Monday -- Octopus

I had some fun this week with Every Inchie Mondays new word - octopus.
I have three octopus rubber stamps ( doesn't everybody !) The first shrink plastic one ended up too large, and the other one is a bit too dark and doesn't look like an octopus, the third one was a waste of space and has gone into my grandchildren's  when they get older box.
For the sewn one, I cut out a small piece of silk paper and did chain stitch for his tentacles. I ended up drawing one and have included the dark shrink plastic one as well.

                                                               This one was too big

Tag Tuesday -- Insects

For this week on Tag Tuesday I have a dragonfly and butterfly theme going on. The one with the large dragonfly has been stamped on acetate and then some bright shiny turquoise paper stuck underneath. This has not shown up on the scan.  I used a stamped dragonfly strip and cut it up to fit the tag.
Both tags have a grass die cut at the bottom and a stamped border behind it. The other tag has a distress ink background and a honeycomb stenciled on top of that. The dragonflies are stamped and the butterflies from my stash. I also found a ladybird brad.

Every Inchie Monday Gecko

Gecko is the word for this week on Evey Inchie Monday. For the stampbord one I have used shrink plastic with a painted background. For the sewn one I have used French knots to make the gecko's scales. He looks a bit cross

Artful Times DT piece -- Tatttered and torn

For my DT piece , tattered and torn on Artful Times I have made another page for my vintage sewing book. I started out with corrugated card distressed it by tearing off some of the top layer. I painted it with Fresco paints and added some torn paper, I embossed some of the distressed bits with copper. Some vintage pictures were added and then I dressed the dress form with some organza and lace. I made a button to match the dress form and added some ribbon, tape, and wooden embellishments.

Tag Tuesday -- Signs of the zodiac

A very quick tag for the signs of the zodiac on Tag Tuesday this week. I am away this week, and had to use the internet for the images. The background is distress ink with some stamping, and the images adhered  on top. I added a Taurus charm and a couple of sayings, the bottom one applies to me. Yes I am a Taurean.

Every Inchie Monday -- Knitting

I had completely forgotten it was Monday, as I was out pulling up weeds in the garden, We have had glorious sunshine for two days and my back is now aching from too much bending.
For my knitted inchie I knitted some embroidery thread on very fine needles, and for the stampbord one, I drew some stocking stitch knitting.
