Artful Times -- DT piece -- House shape

For my DT piece on Artful Times this week, I have altered the drawers on a advent house one of my daughters gave me. They knew it would get the Wendy treatment. I have made metal drawer fronts for them.
I couldn't take the tiny knobs off so had to make a hole in each metal square to allow me to pop the knob through.
All the squares have been made out of metal in various colours ( Ten seconds studio) They have all been embossed in embossing folders. Some were silver that I put alcohol ink on, some of them have been lightly sanded to uncover the silver underneath the colour.
I keep all my wooden and alphabet die cuts in them.

Tag Tuesday -- India

India is the subject on Tag Tuesday this week, which gave me the opportunity to make a fabric tag. In fact I might make lots, and make an Indian tag book. The images are printed on fabric, and sewn on with the machine. I added an Indian trim, some sari ribbon, and have sewn on a tassel and some beads.

Every Inchie Monday -- Quartz crystal

I have been away for the weekend, and am just getting this in on Monday. On Every Inchie Monday this week, it's quartz crystal, I found this one quite difficult. I did the sewing one while I was at my daughter's, and she also had a small piece of rose quartz so I extracted that from her. I have tried to embroider a Quartz watch for the sewing one, and have placed the real piece of quartz next to the pretend one on the card one.
It will be interesting to  see what the others have done.

Tag Tuesday -- Fruit

On Tag Tuesday, the theme is fruit. Now please don't ask why I have so many stamps of pears, or pear words. I think I received them from a friend a long time ago, and have hardly used them. This was a good opportunity to do so.
The large no 12 tag, and the three small ones I had already inked up a while ago, so all I had to do was stamp the pears and words on another piece of card and cut them out. I then placed the smaller tags on top of the large one, job done.
I hasten to add that I don't have any stamps of other fruit.

Every Inchie Monday -- Quick

Not the easiest subject to portray on an inch square on Every Inchie Monday. There are Mondays when I regret making myself do a sewing one, as well as a card one. This was one of those Mondays. I decided on Quick sands. The card one has real sand stuck on the bottom, and the sewn one has a yacht sinking into the fabric sand.

Artful Times DT piece. Sewing

For my DT piece for Artful Times, I have made a page for my book of sewing. I started off with a sheet of corrugated card, ripped off some of the top layer, and painted it with Fresco paint, stone and mermaid. I then embossed with gold some highlights on the edge.I stamped  an image of an old fashioned sewing machine, and some script. I embossed one of T H's dress forms, and coloured it with some distress inks. I stamped various adverts and sewing notions, coloured them and stuck them on. I finished off by dressing the form with lace and adding some wooden scissors, a homemade button, and a small spool of thread. Neet has made a journal page for hers, and you can see it here

Tag Tuesday -- Song title

For the song title on Tag Tuesday there is so much choice, I was flapping about for ages. We have had friends here all week, so couldn't do anything before tonight.
I have chosen 'I have a dream' by Abba, and  the words, I believe in angels which is part of it.
I have inked the tag, and used gold paint through a stencil at the bottom. I chose an image from Crafty Individuals for the angels, added a stamped I believe in angels at the top, and wooden letters for the song title.

Every Inchie Monday -- Plum

On Every Inchie Monday the word is Plum. On one of mine I have cheated a bit and did a plumb line that builders use to get a straight vertical line.  The other two are as requested, a plum to eat, and various shades of plum on the sewn one. The painted one has a coating of gloss on it as plum skins are shiny, the colour is not so pink in real life.

Try it on Tuesday -- Wish you were here

I had just completed another page for my Book of the sea, when the theme for TIOT came up. How lovely it would be to relax in a beach hut, and forget selling houses and packing boxes. Again the base fabric is calico, and the beach hut cut out from some fabric from Empress Mills. The sea at the bottom is a few strips of tatty scrim, embroidered with beads.

Tag Tuesday -- It's a man thing

The theme on Tag Tuesday is It's a man thing. I went for the inventor, and some of my favourite cogs.
I used a  piece of card I had splodged some inks on ages ago, and embossed in black a set of cogs. The man was stamped on a separate piece of card and coloured with Intense crayons. I added some card cogs and a stamp of a steam engine.

Every Inchie Monday -- Privacy

Not an easy one this week on Every Inchie Monday. The only thing that sprang to mind was secret things under lock and key. I made the front of a box with fabric, and used a tiny padlock and key on the front. The card one is embossed silver.

Artful Times DT piece. -- Kinetic

The Artful Times theme this fortnight is Kinetic. I was a bit stuck on this one, and actually printed off some kinetic cards to try and make. I'm afraid time was taken up with decorating and packing boxes, and I decide to use a box I have been working on. It is very much a work in progress, and is not finished.
The  box is painted with black gesso, and the cogs painted with various metal paints, with some rust on a few of them. The cogs are positioned in such a way that they are joined together and move. I will post it again when finished.
