Tag Tuesday -- Cooking

I was really stuck this week for the theme on Tag Tuesday, and didn't know where to start. I found a napkin with cutlery on, so stuck that on the tag. This didn't help much, as I then couldn't think what to put on that. In the end out of sheer desperation I found these two images on Google. They obviously didn't cook the cup cakes at the bottom.

Every Inchie Monday -- Implausible

This was a bit of a teaser on Every Inchie Monday this week. Implausible meaning unlikely could encompass a lot of things. For example I could have drawn a picture of my husband making me a path in the garden that he promised seven years ago. That's a definite unlikely. Instead I decided on a flying pink pig for the sewing one, and hell freezing over for the card one. Once again the scanner has not shown up the glittery part, and has altered the colours a bit.

Artful Times DT challenge piece -- Badge, button or brooch

The challenge this time on Artful Times is to make a badge, button or brooch that fastens with a pin. I decided to make a badge to wear on courses.
I started off with pelmet vilene, with some tyvek and scrim on. I painted it with Golden acrylic paints, and then embossed it with some embossing powder.
The name is small scrabble tiles. The three larger beads at the bottom are hand made with painted Tyvek. The smaller beads are all sewn on afterwards.
The scan doesn't show up the texture very well, as its bouncing off the embossing powder.

10th book of the sea page

I blogged this for Sunday postcard art, and have now put it on calico, and finished it off to go in my book.

Tag Along and Tag Tuesday -- Easter and eggs

The theme on Tag Along is Easter, and last weeks on Tag Tuesday was eggs. I have been away for eleven days looking after my three grandchildren, so hadn't blogged for either of these. I have inked the tag in pastel shades, used a die cut of a broken egg, and filled it full of different eggs. There is a air dry clay birds nest on the main egg. The nest is made up of torn strips of the dictionary definition of egg. The word egg is made from small scrabble tiles.

Sunday Postcard Art -- Lighthouses

I'm a bit late with this, but have been away looking after three grandchildren for eleven days. I am absolutely worn out.
For Sunday Postcard Art the subject is lighthouses. I decided to make a fabric one, as it can go in my book of the sea. I will blog it again when I have put it on a backing for the book, as I will add things to it.

Every Inchie Monday -- Hot

For the theme this week on Every Inchie Monday it is 'hot'
For the card one, I have used some very small pieces of  black, coal like rock, and painted some flames. I have used some yellow and red glitter stickles on top so they look more like flames. Unfortunately this does not show up on the scan.
For the sewn one I have made a hot dog, complete with a squirt of tomato sauce ( thread)

Every Inchie Monday -- Head

Head is the word on Every Inchie Monday this week, and I have made my two in card and fabric. The card one is shrink plastic using a rubber stamp of  ' how to proportion a head for drawing'. The fabric one  is how not to get the  proportions right. She has also had a bad hair day.

Artful Times DT piece for Spray Away

For the theme Spray Away on Artful Times, I decided to do July's spread for my Art journal. This is a rather large book that I have altered to make into a journal. I write in it every day what I have achieved art wise. Sometimes I forget, and there are a few blanks.
I usually paint the pages with water colours, but for this exercise it had to be sprays. I have used Dylusion sprays throughout, and then masks. The stamping around the edge are also Dylusions. I just love Dyan's stamps, and they are brilliant for using in journals. Below are the various stages.
The second one I sprayed white linen ink through the masks, which toned down the colour a bit.

Tag Tuesday -- The fantastic and strange

I didn't really have a clue what to do for Tag Tuesday this week. The fantastic and strange wasn't really me, but I then remembered that I had a set of Dylusion stamps with some strange things on.
The background is Distress stains, sprayed with a lot of water allowing the colours to run.
The poorly creature  sitting on the mushroom, not only has blue measles but is terrified of the caterpillar on the ground underneath. He was very lucky that there was a mushroom for him to escape to.

A Vintage Journey -- A little bit French. & The Kraft Journal -- Paris or France

The theme this week on A Vintage Journey is A little bit French, and The Kraft Journal - Paris or France
I started off with some packaging, and ripped off some of the top layer to show the ridges. I painted it with gesso, and then with Fresco Vintage lace and Sky. I then heat embossed some parts with gold embossing powder.
I stamped one of Tim's Paris stamps, and used my En Francais writing background stamp. The paper with Paris on at the top is one of Tim's. The next step was to add the photo of the Eiffel tower and the lady who is in Paris for the Spring. Some flowers, a flourish, a spray of pearls and a dragon fly completed the picture.
This is going to be the cover of a book a friend and I are going to do at some time.

Every Inchie Monday -- Gold

On Every Inchie Monday the word is Gold. For the sewn one, I have used fabric with gold writing on, and then sewn on a piece of gold kid leather. I then added some gold threads and stitching.
For the card one I embossed a black inchie with hieroglyphics, and added a shrink plastic Tutankhamen which of course was made of gold.

Try it on Tuesday -- Lets see some beads

On TIOT this time your art has to show some beads. I wanted to make some felt, and put poppies on. I love blending the colours, and I love poppies. I beaded the inside of the larger poppies.

Tag Along -- Oriental

Oriental is the theme on Tag Along, and it seems like a while ago that I used to make a lot of Oriental ATCs. It doesn't appear to be as popular as it used to be. So it was great to get the stash out and have a go. For the first one I folded a kimono out of some Japanese paper, and adhered it to a tag covered in script. This tag I placed on another one, that I had covered with some more paper. At the bottom of the tag I added a geisha, a fan coloured with patina inks, and some red ribbon.
The second tag has a couple of ripped Oriental papers stuck on, a stamped image of a geisha, an embossed image on red vellum, a butterfly, and some stamped bamboo.

A Vintage journey -- Say it with words

I am very late doing this challenge, and am only just getting it in on time.
My daughter gave me this book box at the weekend, and instead of putting it away with all the others, I actually started working on it. As its 'say it with words' on A Vintage Journey, I decided to make it into a sewing themed one, to put my fabric postcards in.
I started by painting it with Fresco paint in black, then crackle glaze, then a blue. After it had crackled I sprayed it with some perfect pearl mists, and a lime green Dylusions one..
Then came the fun bit, putting all the clock, cogs and flowers on. I covered Tim's sewing dress form with some of his vintage paper, and added that, with a home made button. The saying is one of my favourites from Paperartsy.

Sunday Postcard Art -- Down on the farm

On Sunday Postcard Art the theme is Down on the farm. I knew I had a Crafty Individuals stamp of chickens, and one of a rooster. So off I went. I put it on my blog, and then went to see what everyone else had done. I then came back to mine, and took it to pieces, took it off my blog and started again.  Mine was so similar to Rosie's that it looked as if we had made them together.

Tag Along -- Under the big top

I'm not a fan of the circus, and have very little on the subject. so when this came up on Tag Along I was a bit stumped. Luckily I had a backing paper of Tim's, and a picture of a sort of clown. I made the ribbons at the top look slightly circus top like. I couldn't resist putting a row of elephants at the bottom.

Tag Tuesday -- Schooldays

On Tag Tuesday this week the theme is schooldays. I started off with some Tim paper of the dreaded times table, I needed all of my fingers to count with in those days. I added a picture of girls at their desks and  another carrying her school slate. There is a measuring tape at the bottom, and a folded ticket with pen nibs on. I also stamped some brushes and pen nibs on to the backing paper.
