Thursday Journal with Neet

The words this week are from Tim Holtz snarky comments, 'My level of sarcasm has gotten to the point where I don't even know if I'm kidding or not' Sheila was at home and had invited her friend Marie to spend the afternoon with her to discuss what they were going to do when they went on holiday in July. Generally they both liked doing the same thing, but where to go was proving difficult. Sheila fancied going to the seaside and Marie wanted to go to a city. Sheila wasn't very keen on shopping and really didn't want to spend a holiday wandering around shops. Sheila suggested a holiday by the sea but with a large town nearby, this seemed to be a happy compromise and Marie reluctantly agreed. Sheila couldn't resist asking Marie what was a half flower doing on her head, and Marie said it was a hat. "Well in that case why don't you borrow my ladybird fascinator and put that on your head as well, then if it has greenfly, the ladybird will eat them for you" Marie was not amused and accused Sheila of being sarcastic. I know said Sheila My level of sarcasm has gotten  to the point where  I don't even know if I am being kidding or not"

This week the words from Tim Holt snarky comments are 'That moment when you hear someone else call your best friend their best friend and  you are like...No' Alicia was at a social at her school and there seemed to be girls there that she didn't know, probably in a different year than her and she obviously hadn't taken much notice ofd them. One girl in particular had started taking to her and was one of those boastful sort of people. What she didn't know or had done just wasn't believable and Alicia was getting a bit bored and couldn't stem the flow of chat and say anything herself. Hoping so much that someone would rescue her she looked about her for her best friend Anne, where on earth was she, she usually came to these dos and had told Alicia that she would definitely be there. This girl Tracey was getting worse and Alicia found it hard not to be rude and try and shut her up, she also had very big feet and a childish hair style. Suddenly Anne appeared across the hall and was coming towards them. Thank goodness for that thought Alicia and at the same time Tracey saw her and said in a very loud voice "here comes my best friend Anne, I'm sure you will like her, she's brilliant". Alicia couldn't believe her ears and could only think of 'that moment when you hear someone else call your best friend their best friend and you are like.. No

I am having a struggle scanning these last few as I am on my last but one page in my Dylusions journal and somewhat reluctant to buy another one. Hence the shadow on the right edge.

' The pity train has just derailed at the corner of suck it up and move on' are the words from Tim Holt snarky comments. I have used some geometric shapes on the background and some circles and squares on their clothes to comply with Valeries theme of Geometric forms on Art Journal journey.  Jenny and her friend Edwina are having a nice day out in town doing a bit of window shopping as neither of them have any spare money as it's the end of the month.  Jenny had a feeling that Edwina was longing to tell her something and had no idea why she hadn't said anything all day, she felt she was building up for something important. As soon as Edwina started to tell her, Jenny knew what was coming, she had heard it all before. Edwina's boyfriend had just finished with her for a much younger prettier girl giving her no explanation or any sympathy. Jenny wasn't about to sympathise with her either, as Edwina seemed to get through a boyfriend a month. Jenny had lost count of how many and sometimes didn't even try to remember their names. " What do you think" Edwina said. Jenny had had enough and replied " The pity train has derailed at the corner of suck it up and move on" Edwina could see it was no use saying any more, so stalked off in the direction of home. Jenny knew she would be OK the next day so went home herself.

The words this week are 'I was going to give you a nasty look, but I see you already have one' Gina and her friend Tina have been discussing the benefits or not of having pets. Gina has a little cat called scamp and it is devoted to her, follows her around all over the house. Tina on the other hand doesn't see the point of having one and prefers animals to roam free. Mind you if confronted with a cow, badger or a fox she would run a mile. She doesn't agree with zoos either. Nothing Gina could say would convince her friend otherwise, and Tina was starting to say things that were a bit personal and cruel about Gina's love of animals, especially the condition of animals kept in a zoo. Gina tried to explain that a lot of zoos had special breeding programmes for endangered species, which was invaluable to stop a wholesale extinction of many types of animals.  Gina was getting very exasperated with Tina's attitude and eventually said "  I was going to give you a nasty look, but I see you already have one" I am linking this to to Art Journal Journey where Valeries theme is Geometric forms.

This week the words are 'Sometimes I wonder how you put up with me. Then I remember, oh, I put up with you, so we're even' Maisie and her big sister Francis are having their usual argument about who actually owns Susie the cat and should therefor feed her and generally look after her. It's an argument they have all the time and Maisie thinks that as Francis is the oldest it's her cat, Francis thinks otherwise. If they ask their parents they always say Susie belongs to both of you, so you must share the responsibility. Maisie thought that didn't help one bit as it meant that her sister  made her do it all the time. Susie sat between them wondering when she was going to be fed, and as she couldn't possibly understand a word they said apart from her name was getting hungrier by the minute. Why couldn't they just feed her and get on with it. Francis was getting fed up with the time being wasted as she wanted to go out. In exasperation she turned to Maisie and said " sometimes I wonder how you put up with me. Then I remember, oh, I put up with you, so we're even"

' I don't know where all the crap about me being a difficult person is coming from' are the words this week. Jennifer and her sister Olive are having a chat about all sorts of subjects including fashion the weather and boy friends. Jennifer was boasting about her current boyfriend and how generous he was to her, and Olive guessed that Jennifer  had been exaggerating about how good she was at cooking and how popular she was. Olive knew this was not true, she had been at the mercy of Jennifers cooking at various occasions and thought it was awful. She didn't want to hurt her sister's feelings, but couldn't resist asking her why she had an umbrella  on her head. " I thought it looked rather fetching and different" Jennifer replied. It took me ages to find a child she one that matched my outfit, and I think normal ones are boring and make you look old I think I have very good fashion sense. and while we are on the subject I don't know where all the crap about me being difficult person is coming from." Again Olive resisted from telling her why, after all she was wearing a hat herself shaped like a bird, on her own head. I am linking this to Chris's theme of 'On all fours' on Art Journal Journey.

'She said"that's a lot of money to spend on crafts, and I knew we could't be friends" are the words this week. Adrienne and Jane had spent their day at one of the big craft shows in London and with sore feet and empty purses they arrived home to Adriennes. Adrienne had managed to buy lots of craft items from nearly all of the stalls and Jane had only bought what was on her list, which was quite small. She couldn't afford much and really didn't need can awful lot more as she knew she wouldn't have time to use it all. On the other hand Adrienne seemed to have suddenly found new crafts that she hadn't tried before and Jane doubted she would use half of the goods for these. Adriennes cats looked on and wondered what all the fuss was about and why didn't they bring them some goodies as well. After Adrienne had sorted all her goodies out in separate piles, Jane asked her how much she had spent. WhenAdrienne told her she was astounded, it was more than she earns in months. With this very obvious difference in them Jane said " That's a lot of money to spend on crafts, and I knew we couldn't be friends" She gathered up her things and said cheerio, knowing that she probably wouldn't go to another craft show with Adrienne.

This week the words are 'I don't like to think before I speak, I like to be just as surprised as everyone else about what comes out of my mouth"'I expect everyone has been in this situation and Elise certainly had, in fact it applied to her more than it should. Elise had bumped into one of her school friends Barbara, who was out walking with her dog a ridiculous spoilt poodle called Fifi for goodness sake. They exchanged a few old stories from schooldays and then the conversation dried up. For want of something to say Elise said "Why have you dressed your dog in a thick coat, it isn't really cold and  Fifi also looks ridiculous in a hat and boots, dogs do not wear hats and boots' Barabara was somewhat upset by these remarks and countered with, you are being rude and hurtful, why did you say that?" Well replied Elise "I don't like to think before I speak, I like to be just as  surprised as everyone else about what comes out of my mouth" Not finding anything constructive to say to that Barabara walked off in the direction she was going in the first place.

This week is the last one on Vicki's theme of 'Keeping it light' on Art Journal Journey, and the words are 'If you see me eating salad in a restaurant, I have been kidnapped and am trying to signal you'  Ivy had  gone over to see her friend Janeen who was lounging on the floor with loads of smelly candles burning. Ivy didn't like candles and thought that as the wax melted it deposited a layer of wax all over the furniture. The fact she was wearing her sun glasses made her disapproval even more obvious. Ivy wanted to know if Janeen would like to go to the new salad and whole-food restaurant that had opened in town. "I very rarely eat at a restaurant and if I did I would rather have an Indian, Thai or Chinese meal thank you,  but thanks for asking me. I am  also slim enough and don't think such a sensible meal would appeal to me"  replied Janine."You don't know what you are missing" said Ivy. "Ohh I think I do, and If you see me eating salad, Iv'e been kidnapped and am trying to signal you" replied Janeen.

'How much better life would be if liars pants really did catch on fire'  are the words this week from Tim Holt snarky comments. Grace was sitting on the floor in  front of her new wall mounted fire when her friend Jenny came to see her. Grace was looking forward to know how her friend had got on with the job interview she had been on that morning. It was with a firm in the next town and as Jenny had a car it was an easy trip to do every day and she was really looking forward to it. There were several people being interviewed, but Jenny was very confident. "Well how did you get on" grace asked ? "Well, I was given the job, but I turned it down, it wasn't what I expected" Jenny said. Grace looked carefully at the sort of casual way Jenny was standing and the don't care look on her face, something wasn't right. She knew Jenny well enough to see it was false bravado. Grace quietly said to herself 'How much better life would be if liars pants really did catch on fire, but out load she said "Oh well never mind, something else will turn up"

The words this week are 'I'm just waiting to see if my coffee chooses to use it's power for good or evil today'  Mungo is quietly waiting for Janice to take him for his afternoon walk and it looks as if he is in for a long wait. She has drunk her coffee and is now muttering to herself. This has been going on for a while and he is getting rather anxious. He does not like the dark and as the table lamp is already on he thinks a quick run around the garden will have to suffice. Mungo was really keen to go to the park where his best friend a cute white poodle  called Flossie has taken his fancy. If it gets much later there will be no running round the bushes with his friend today. He had started making I really need to go out noises and has fetched his lead and put it near the door ready. One last effort on Mungos part had at least extracted a response from Janice as she had just muttered something "I'm just waiting to see if my coffee chooses to use it's power for good or evil" Not really understanding a word Mungo just hoped that would make her go to the door and put him in his lead before it became even darker.

The words this week are ''I wish my life had background music so I could understand  what the heck is going on' That would be handy I must admit as I don't have a clue what's going on. I still have the flashing lights and a noise in my head so I would like to know what's happening. I think Stella is wondering the same thing, her life seems to go from  one disaster to the next, she can't seem to keep a boyfriend from one month to another and now she has had a row with her parents. It always seems that one problem leads to another and she now seems to be stuck in a rut with her job. As much as she would like to get a place of her own it never seems to happen. Feeling somewhat sorry for herself she is now talking to herself as well, and it's not as if she is giving herself some sensible advice. She said outloud to herself 'I wish my life had background music so I could understand what the heck is going on', a light bulb moment would do instead if the music wasn't going to materialise" she muttered.

I hope this complies with the theme on Art Journal Journey   set by Vicki of  'Keeping it light'

This week the words are 'Common sense is so rare these days, it should be classified as a super power' I quite agree, so many people don't seem to possess any common sense at all. Greta was lounging on the floor in her friends house and after they had watched the sunset for a while, they were discussing some of their work colleagues, and the ridiculous things they come out with. " Honestly Anne for someone with a university education the sales director at work comes out with the most ridiculous things. She can't even change a plug or know how things work, even simple things. I don't know how they manage everyday life when they don't seem to grasp the basics. "I totally agree with you"said Anne, "one of the girls at work was trying to put oil in her car through the small hole that the dip stick to test the level goes in. She wanted to know if anyone had a funnel so she could pour the oil through. I had to take her out and show her the proper place that didn't need a funnel. She then asked me if my dad was a mechanic and had told me all about engines, honestly 'Common sense is so rare these days, it should be classified as a super power'

There is a true story with this one. When I lived in the Highlands of Scotland, my mother in law lived in the cottage next to us. She came up to the house one day and asked if Mike had a funnel. When I asked what did she want one for, she told me she needed to put oil in her car. I said that I could do that for her and she said it was impossible with out a small ended funnel. I asked her to show me what she was trying to do and she pointed to the tiny hole for the dip stick. The rest is history, and I did try not to laugh. She had been a teacher  in her earlier days. I don't think it was on mechanics.

The words this week are 'Cleaning with children in the house is like brushing your teeth while eating Oreos' It's Friday the 13th and Emily was not having a good day, the two boys were being as naughty as they could be. It had started badly when young Henry decided that his breakfast looked better on the floor than in his bowl and when his mum asked him to drink his milk, he knew fine that the bottom inside the cup had a picture of a train on it, so he tipped it out to have a look. The eldest one, Malcom wasn't helping by pretending that he was innocent of all wrong doing and started telling Henry off as well. "Malcom stop parenting, it's not your job" said Emily, " go and play you two, I have a house to clean."  Off they went to play in their bedroom while Emily cleaned up the kitchen. By the time she had finished that and went to do the lounge  the boys had gone downstairs and were busy spreading their toys all over the place. At this point Emily gave up and said out loud "Cleaning with children in the house is like brushing your teeth while eating Oreos"

This story is not without a real story, my Mother in Law when my son aged about 2 ( now 58 this year) was told to hurry up and drink his milk because if he did he would see that there was a train at the bottom. So like Henry he tipped it all out to have a look. Note to self : I must remind him of that.

Really struggling with this as I still have  the flashing lights of the migraine. and spent Monday night in Hereford hospital, where with extensive tests they discovered that I had had a small stroke near the optic nerve. So I now wear a heart monitor for two weeks then go on tablets try to prevent it happening again. I would love to get rid of these flashing lights  as I can't read, so hopefully they will eventually go away. Do excuse any mistakes in this as I really am struggling to see properly.

'I don't mean to brag, but I finished my 14 day diet in 3 hours and 12 minutes. These  are the words this week to try and fit in with Erika's theme on Art Journal Journey of 'It's on the calendar.'

Fiona and Heather had decided to go on a 14 day diet, even though Fiona didn't really need to loose weight, she thought it would encourage Heather to loose a few pounds that she had put on over Christmas. Fiona had made a slimming calendar and started on her first day. When Heather came round to see how Fiona was getting on she saw the calendar and asked Fiona why she had just put a line through all the days but the first one "well" said Fiona " I don't mean to brag, but I finished my 14 day diet in 3 hours and 12 minutes." Heather thought that even though Fiona said she didn't want to brag, that's exactly what she was doing. Heather just stopped herself from saying anything, and admitted to not having done very much on the first day, but would continue with it until she could get into her less floppy clothes.

I have had a migraine all day and have struggled to get this done, I can't see anything to my left and what with that and a new computer I have taken all afternoon and the evening to do this. Sally and her friend Hazel have been discussing the up and coming ball at their school, and Sally seems to think it will solve her lack of a boyfriend, she has being bemoaning the fact that Hazel has one and she hasn't. Hazel has relaxed on the floor and is listening to Sally moaning away and trying to not explain that you have to work hard at a relationship and not sit back and expect it to happen. Sally has a very large notice on the wall with a list of dates on it and numbers on the wall to remind her of the days. Hazel gets very frustrated with her and says " Life is not a fairy tale, if you loose a shoe at midnight , you're drunk." Sally just gave her one of her favourite looks which said it all. The words this week are 'I would challenge you in a battle of wits, but I see you are unarmed'. Gosh, this is not any easy one to do and link to Erika's theme of 'It's on the calendar' on Art Journal Journey. Angie has gone to see her cousin Malcolm and she secretly thinks he is definitely a sandwich short of a picnic. She has constantly reminded him to remember his mums birthday, but finds when she gets there that he has forgotten and she had reminded him the day before. Angie had even bought a card and a little present for him to give to his mum, although she suspects he has eaten the box of chocolates himself. Malcolm has that confused look on his face when Angie starts to tell him off and holds even tighter to his constant companion his stuffed monster toy. "I did remind you Malcolm, and wrote it on your calendar. why can't you remember and do it straight away, honestly, I would challenge you in a battle of wits, but I see you are unarmed." Malcolm didn't really understand what Angie was on about, but she was a bossy pain in the neck anyway.

On Art Journal Journey, Erika has chosen 'It's on the calendar' as her theme for January. I have made my first entry my art journal that I do every year. I used distress oxide inks on the background with various stencils and stamps.
