Art Every Day

 It's the 5th day of Art Every Day  I found this branch from the oak tree on the edge of our garden, and decided to have a go at a watercolour of the dried leaves. It was harder than I thought.

Thursday Journal with Neet

"If cats had phones, they wouldn't call you back"  is the quote this week and as I am hosting Art Journal Journey this month and my theme is birds I have included birds on my page. The background is Distress oxides and I have used stencils and drawn a tree for the birds to sit on. They say if you have cats you live with them, not they live with you. I have three and I'm sure they get more attention than me. If I want something doing my hubby goes deaf, the cats meow and up he gets to feed them. Not sure how to illustrate the quote, as I think they would phone you to order food if they could figure out how to use a phone. The birds I don't think would phone you as there is usually a full bird feeder outside.

Another page for my theme on Art Journal Journey.  I thought perhaps I ought to do one for Halloween, even though it was last month. I just love orange and black together and this gave me the chance to do that.

Art Every Day

I am entering the challenge on Art Every Day Month, where you try to post some art every day in November. I did this last year, and thought as the weather is preventing me planting bulbs in the garden I would try to keep up with this challenge again.

This is a page I did for a sketchbook c workshop I am doing online. It is a collage of ripped papers with texture paste for the sea spray and clouds.

tag Tuesday - Texture

For my theme for the next two weeks on Tag Tuesday, I have chosen Texture. I work a lot with various different mediums and love the textures you can achieve with these, stencils and various embellishments. The first one has a background of kitchen paper that I used to mop up some dye. Texture paste through a stencil and some flowers and a friendly plastic butterfly for the embellishments. The second one has a distress inked background and texture paste through a stencil. I then added some plasterers tape, sequin waste. yarns. scrunched up foil and some friendly plastic embellishments.

Art Journal Journey - Birds

Another page for my theme of Birds on Art Journal Journey. I couldn't resist using my silly chickens for one of my pages, so here they are. They started out as battery hens until they were rescued ( we used to get hens that had spent a year inside and had used up their usefulness as far as egg production was concerned)  I used distress inks for the background and stamped the hens on separate card and coloured them with watercolour pens. Very difficult cutting out thin legs and a few of them suffered some amputations, and I had to draw them in.

Art Journal Journey - Birds

 During the month of November I am hosting Art Journal Journey, and have chosen the theme of birds. I am a very keen bird watcher and love putting birds on my art work, be it paper or fabric. I would love a parrot, but know it would drive me nuts if it talked all the time, that's just one up from talking to yourself and answering.

My first page is a collage made from various papers from my stash. I am actually very pleased with myself as I have started to tear or cut up some of those papers you just look at but don't want to use, as once they are gone that's it.  

I am also entering this in Art Everyday Month

I have used various images of birds, the squares ones are from a Tim Holtz paper and the others I have stamped and cut out. The feathers are stamped directly onto the collage.
