Tag Tuesday - Trees

Joan has chosen the theme of trees for this fortnight on Tag Tuesday.
My tag has a distress inked background with a script stamped on top. I added an open weave fabric at the bottom with some leaf charms, and some die cut leaves in Autumn colours.

Thursday Journal with Neet

If you require me, I'll be on my pedestal are the words this week  Not sure what I was going to do with this one and went with this figure sitting on her mushroom pedestal. She also looks as if she might say something like that as well. The background is Dylusion spray inks with stencils. The figure is Dylusions and painted with watercolour brushes.
We are in Cornwall next week so I must now go and do another page for Thursday.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words are " If it doesn't make you feel fabulous, don't do it, don't buy it, don't keep it"
A saying I should perhaps take notice of. My idea of throwing clothes away used to be ' if you don't want to answer the door wearing it, it's time it went in the bin or the charity shop'

The background is Distress oxide inks and then using the same colours through a stencil. I did a bit of stamping in blue. The figures and things she shouldn't have bought are all Dylusions. I don't like this figure much and it seemed a good chance to use it.

I am also entering this in Erika's theme of polka dots, stripes, plaids or patterns on Art Journal Journey

Thursday Journal with Neet

'Please come again when you can't stay as long' are the words this week. The background was made using Dylusion spray inks one page and then closing the book, so it inked the opposite side. I then used various stencils to make the edges and patterns. The figures are a mix of stamps and coloured with watercolour pens.

I have been working on my retreat journal since I got home and other things in my studio have been neglected. I really must get back to my textile work and do some pieces from out last lesson, which was silhouettes. I have some ideas, I just need to get them down on paper to see if they will work.

I am also entering this in Art Journal Journey where Erika's great theme is polka dots, stripes or patterns

Tag Tuesday -- Apples and pears

A quick tag for my theme on Tag Tuesday, this time with apples. The background is made with a mop up sheet and stamped with skeleton leaves and pear shapes. I then added two drawing of apples.
I added a childhood saying we used to hear from our mums.

Final pieces for my textile course

This is another one of my final pieces for my textile course.  I took a photograph of some new heucheras and incorporated them in the back ground. I then machine stitched the top.

The second one is of some self seeded poppies in my garden

Thursday Journal with Neet

Neet's choice this week with the words "Ugh, people"
I did a distress oxide ink background with various stencils and stamps and a Dylusion edge stencil on the base. The figures are from Dylusions mini people range and the creatures from Paperartsy.
I thought the tree dwellers definitely didn't like the look of the human people and the small figures were just the right size for the page. It's not often possible to use these smaller ones in the large journal, so it was nice to give them an airing.
I am also entering this in Art Journal Journey where Erika's theme is 'polka dots/stripes/plaids or patterns' All the girls have polka dots and two of the tree dwellers do as well, even the bottom border has them. That was a lucky choice of stamps, and not a conscience one.

The backgrounds are distress inks  with some gold embossing powder on the top one.

Thursday Journal with Neet

"Are you still talking" is Neet's choice this week and after inking the page with distress oxide inks I found two figures that I thought would fit the bill. The one on the left looks as if she is leaving in a bit of a huff, hence the words "Are you still talking" from the one on the left.
I am off on my textile course and this is a scheduled post. I have also discovered that I cannot comment from my iPad, so will have to wait until Friday.

Tag Tuesday Purple

Michele has chosen purple as her theme on Tag Tuesday, and I am a bit late joining in. Visitors, garden, and textile work has left me with very little time. The cooking and washing etc in our house is done by various fairies according to my other half.

I have used lots of bits of fabrics with beads and sewing on top for this tag.

Homework for my Textile course.

The homework this time was to use photographs and build them into a collaged background. I have tried to make the edges of the photos merge with the rest of the canvas.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words Neet has chosen are " I will never be a well behaved woman"  The background is distress inks with stencils used with the same colour inks, plus a purple. The figure is a mixture of  stamps from Dylusions. The pet pig is a Zinki one from Paperartsy.
I thought with her somewhat odd dress sense and her choice of companions, she didn't look as if she was well behaved. She's probably been on the funny mushrooms as well.
I must now do next weeks as I am on my textile course next week and we have Peter's brother and wife coming to stay for the rest of this week.
I also have one piece of homework to do before Wednesday as well. No chance of getting bored around here.

I an also entering this in Gill's theme of 'Anything with eyes' on Art Journal Journey

Tag Tuesday Anything goes

Valerie is hosting this fortnight on Tag Tuesday with 'Anything goes'. I don't know about anyone else but when I am given the choice of doing anything, I don't know where to start.
This time I started off by using texture paste on my tag, painting it and adding a bird or two and some shells to add a bit more texture. I have spent four days at the seaside with my daughter and three beach mad grandchildren and had to have some seagulls on this one.

Thursday Journal with next.

Neet's choice again with ' I ate healthily and exercised today...I had better frikken wake up skinny'
The background is distress oxides with stencils used on top. I added a small amount of stamping.
The figures are painted with watercolour pens.
I have just come back from my daughter's in Swindon and once again I have left this until Wednesday night. I really must get my time organised, too much to do and too little time.
We have visitors at the end of the month, and then I am away on two courses at the beginning of September.

Tag Tuesday -- Anything goes

On Tag Tuesday Valerie is hosting for this fortnight with Anything goes. Given the choice, leaves me clue less, so I went for texture with this one, using up some bits from my stash. I hardly ever go to this stash and need to use it up.
I used texture past on the tag and painted it with shimmer paints. I added some embellishments and beads.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the words are 'I don't want to seem like I think I'm always right, but I am, that's why it comes across that way' Brilliant, and as Peter says I'm always right so if the cap fits !
I used Dylusion inks for the background, and a few stencils with a Distress Pine Needles ink. The only thing I could quickly lay my hands on for the figure to sit on was a house, but I did cut the chimney off as it looked very uncomfortable for her. The two cats are looking a bit submissive, cos they know she's always right as well.
Hopefully by the time this is published I will be on a sunny beach in South Wales, ok maybe not sunny, but you never know.

I am also entering this in Art Journal Journey with the theme of Eyes

Tag Tuesday -- Summer fun.

This fortnight on Tag Tuesday, Joan has chosen Summer Fun for her theme. I'm very late putting mine on as I have been working at the Festival of quilts in Birmingham, and the spent the days since working in the garden and catching up with housework.
My tag is distress inked on the background, with all the images stamped on separate card, coloured and adhered to the background. I found a little crab charm to add to it.

Thursday Journal with Neet

"I haven't seen you since that time I hoped I'd never to see you again" Neet's choice again this week and I have used a Dylusion inked page for this one. I used some stencils and stamping to add a bit of interest. The figures are all Dylusions and painted with watercolour pens.
After my stint at the festival of quilts which I really enjoyed, I spent the next day in the garden and a bit of yesterday. I think being on my feet for days on end has just registered with my brain and I am now tired and lacking in get up and go.
I now need to get on with next weeks as I am going down the the South Wales coast with my daughters and grandchildren. I want to show the children the caves at Rhossilli, and the beaches are lovely. No doubt after that I will another holiday to get over it.

Thursday Journal with Neet

Another of Neet's choice with the words " I'm exhausted by how stupid everyone is getting" Not easy, these last ones are a real challenge.
I started off with a Dylusion inked page and images that were already coloured. A good job I had some ready as I have left it until the last minute as usual.
I am working at the Festival of Quilts today, Friday and Sunday on my friend and tutor's stand (for my textile course), Hilary Beattie. I just hope I can cope with standing up all day and coping with the card machine. I should be OK on everything else say's she with confidence.
This is a scheduled post and I am now off to bed.
