Tag Tuesday -- Go Rural

A very simple one this week, as I am away for the rest of the week. I made this tag with all die cuts, which is not my usual style, but all I can manage in the time.

Creative Carte Blanche challenge -- Think outside the box.

I have just found a challenge called Think out of the box, and this month they ask you to use a cigar box. A friend gave me one ages ago, and I have altered it with an Indian style theme. The top is made with paper, and on the inside, silk paper with an Indian lady made with paper mounted on a skeleton leaf. I lined the box base with red silky fabric and the altered lots of small boxes with paper, charms, metal, and gems. Inside the small boxes I placed more charms, a small hand made book and a few brooch pieces. I scattered some gems on the fabric.

Every Inchie Monday -- Big

I didn't have much of an idea of what to do for this prompt, so for the stampbord one I did an elephant in shrink plastic, well elephants are big. For the sewn one I have made a big Mac. I've never eaten one but They are also big.

Another experiment with Powertex

This time I covered a very plain cream vase with fabric soaked in the Powertex. I pushed some large buttons underneath, and added some lace, beads, and yarn, also soaked in Powertex.  I haven't decided what colour to paint yet, so watch this space.
If it doesn't move in this house it might get covered in the stuff and turned to stone.

Another Dyan style journal page.

I am really enjoying doing this art journal, as I love Dyan's sayings. I used the Delusion paints for the  background, and used various stencils as well. I doodled a bit at the bottom for the girls to stand on.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- S with a shell included

I have chosen Seahorse for my word and I love doing seaside type art, so this one was a pleasure to do. I distress inked the background, die cut the seaweed and seahorse and coloured them with distress ink. The seahorse I put a layer of crackle glaze on top to give it some texture. I put a few clear dew drops on for bubbles, and added a strip at the bottom for the shells.

Tag Tuesday -- Shabby Chic

Not my usual style, but enjoyed making this one. I distress inked the background, framed the image and then surrounded her with flowers and lace.

Every Inchie Monday -- Poetry

This was very difficult to do, I did try writing a poem on an inch and failed. In the end I drew a terrible picture of the guy who reads the poems out in the Galaxy.
For the sewn one I made a Vogon poetry book with a gold leather cover. This hasn't shown up very well, far too dark, so I took one of the first page as well.

The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge -- Dimension Anything but Cute -- Celebrate Earth day. Stamps & Stencils -- Trash to Treasure

For this challenge I have altered a box with the help of Powertex. I draped the Powertex soaked fabric on top of the box. I put some large buttons underneath to give some different shapes. I added some flowers and seed heads that I also covered in Powertex. I painted it with Acrylic paints. I stencilled the sides with metallic paint through a flower stencil.

I have also enter this into the Anything but cute whose challenge is to celebrate Earth day and to use their colour palette.

I have also entered this in the Stamps and Stencils challenge blog whose challenge is Trash to Treasure.

Tag Tuesday -- Medieval

I didn't find this one very easy to do, and reverted to finding images on the internet. As I'm hopeless with digital work I just fussy cut the images and then added some medieval words for clothing, some of which I had never heard of. The castle is Cardiff in South Wales

Every Inchie Monday -- Fish

My new computer is driving me round the bend as it won't talk to Adobe or my scanners. Apple obviously doesn't like Adobe. It's taking me far too long to do a simple scan. Anyway these are my attempts at the fish prompt this week. The sewn one is hand made felt and the stampbord one is shrink plastic.

The Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge -- D

For the challenge D on the Craft Barn Dictionary Challenge I have chosen dress. I used a Tim Holtz die cut for the dress and dressed the form in pink as we have to include pink in our work this time.
I placed it on a dress pattern background and added scissors, dress button, a hanger with fabric samples and a reel of cotton.

Tag Tuesday -- Clean and simple

This prompt sounds simple, but the real challenge was not to put too much on the tag. I distress inked one tag, die cut another, and placed one on top of the other. I then stamped the image and it was finished. I've tied my hands behind my back to stop me from adding something else to it.

Anything but cute -- Crazy for colour.

I am just in under the wire for this one, and have made a page for my Dyan style journal with Dyan's gorgeous bright paint colours. I have also used some of her newish stamps, which I found a little difficult to use.

Every Inchie Monday -- Grandmother

Not easy to fit a grandmother on an inch. For the stampbord one I drew a granny sitting in a chair knitting. For the sewn one a head was enough, and for this I stuffed some calico and made it 3D. The glasses are made from wire and the hair is a fancy thread.
