Some more Dyan style journal pages

I decided to end the blogging year with a few more pages from my Dyan Reaveley style art journal.

Tag Tuesday -- Snowflakes

This sounded easy until I started to make it. All I could muster up in quick time was a dark blue painted glittery background with die cuts using glittery paper. I added some hills and a small snowman. The glitter doesn't show up  on the scan.
Have a super and healthy New Year, and thank you for all your comments.

Every Inchie Monday -- Next

For the last inchie of the year, Next is the word. There seemed to be only one way to do these so I chose to embroider EIM and 2016 on the one and I used shrink plastic to shrink four inchies for the stampbord and write the same as for the embroidered one. I have also sewn my inchies together, but haven't put them on a base fabric yet. If I had any walls with space left in our bungalow, I would put it on a canvas.

Tag Tuesday -- Peace on Earth

For this tag I have inked with distress inks for the background, and printed off different sizes of earth pictures. The three at the bottom I have covered in a 3D gel to make them more domed. I added a die cut to represent the olive branch and a ceramic dove. The letters are wooden, and some of favourite for using on my tags.

Every Inchie Monday -- Evolution

Not an easy one this week, it was very difficult to get the standard evolution picture on an inch, so I only managed to draw three of them. Mine progressed very quickly from monkey to humans. For the sewn one I attempted to show a fish ( deformed) and Darwin whose evolution theory started with the humble fish.

Tag Tuesday -- Baubles & Bling

For this tag I made a fabric tag with scraps of Christmas fabric. I then used some silk paper for the Christmas tree and added some decorations from metal, glittery stars, beads and brads.

Every Inchie Monday -- Locomotive

A bit late this week with a difficult subject to sew and draw on an inch. I used shrink plastic for one, but had to cut some of it off as it was way too big. The other stampbord one is using a rubber stamp. The sewn one I used red felt and some bead spacers for wheels.

Tag Tuesday -- Night sky

I painted a tag with dark blue Fresco paint which looks very blotchy when scanned. I then did the mountains with texture paste and added some blue for shadows before it dried. Some orange paint was added for the setting sun and I cut out some sparkly paper for the moon. The stars were added with a white pen and some stickles applied to the mountains and stars. Not visible on the scan. I'm not very happy with this one, but it looks slightly better in real life.

Every Inchie Monday -- Angel

My stampbord one isn't a proper angel, but it was the only stamp I could use on the shrink plastic. The sewn one would have been better on a coloured background, but by the time I had struggled sewing it, on white it remains.

Another finished embroidery

I started this when a friend came to stay, and really enjoyed the process. First of all, I layered several different types of ripped white fabric and using the machine sewed near the edges of the fabric. We used different thicknesses and types of fabric to give texture. Other pieces were then added to it like pieces of lace flowers. All of this is still in white. Some extra stitching on the top for the grass gave some more texture. This was achieved by using a thickish thread in the bobbin and sewing from the back. I then painted it with fabric paint. The daisies were sewn by hand with some very small pieces of organza for the buttercups.  We took our inspiration from Wendy Dolan's book Layer, paint and stitch.

Tag Tuesday -- Bows

I have made a fabric tag this week for Tag Tuesday's word is bows. I have backed the tag with a printed fabric and added an image of a child.on a backing of silk. Lace was added, and then the bows.
